It looks ever increasingly likely that we are about to descend into fascism. The last free elections in American history will be on November 5. And it won't end when the Turd croaks.
So how you you intend to cope with the wave of misery and the economic disaster that is imminent? We're in for persecution that will rival Stalin's Russia and an economic disaster that will be the Second Great Depression. How will you cope? What will you do?
My strategy is: I'm already moving my investments out of the country. I'm selling my Treasury bills, my domestic stocks, and my CDs. I'm opening up a brokerage account in Canada.
Fortunately, I live in Oregon. There are already indications that our governor and legislature will resist and/or ignore many of Trump's cruelest and stupidest policies. In particular, we won't let them come into our state and hunt down and kill all migrants. We have a seasonal farm economy and those guest workers are absolutely essential. We don't hate them--we welcome them. And yes, they receive medical care and their children receive education. How liberal of us.
We're fortunate in that Trump's hatred is focused on California and to a lesser extent, tech companies in Seattle. We pretty much fly under his radar--probably because our state's name is too long for him to spell. But should he send armies of goons to enforce his "policies," we'll have to get drastic. The nation of Pacifica will have to be formed and declare its sovereignity and independence. It's an idea that was first created in 2016, kind of died down during the pandemic, but will now be back, stronger than before. We're good people. We don't want to live under an evil fascist dictatorship.
I feel sorry for everyone else who will be stuck in the United States of Trump. The good news is that we will accept refugees! We have lots of empty land.
