For the third consecutive time! Ronny must be rolling around in his grave.
I do hope they go ahead and shut the government down. It'll cost them tens of thousands of votes.

They'll likely get some consensus on a continuing resolution ( short term 30 day funding) to avoid the hyped shutdown threat ; then they can all resume squawking this time next month.
What I want to know is for what possible reason they're doing this. It can't be anything.more than "Biden and the Democrats want it, so we don't," which is a horrid way to govern.
It's also a horrid political move, as it tells the country what voting for the RepubliQ leads to. Which is why I think they'll probably cave eventually, after whatever they deem the proper amount of virtue signaling.
What a worthless gang of public unservants.
In 2018, the Republicans controlled the presidency, the House, and the Senate, and yet they still shut down the government for 35 days. It's not about party or ideology; they just want to break things.

True, they don't need a reason.
There's half a dozen (maybe a few more) House R's who've been publicly unbending on spending cuts. The strength of that group's convictions have now resulted in within - party bickering, mud-slinging, and stalemate. After denouncing govt spending and waste in here and in the real world, I agree with some of that small group's intent / actions. But I'll ultimately disagree with them if they can't find a way to compromise ( that includes the remaining member group they're squabbling with) and come to a consensus without an inordinate amount of grandstanding. Grandstanding is the only thing some of them engage in.The omnipresent pissing contest within and between parties is annoying after a while..eg when these govt shutdown threats emerge on a semi-regular basis. The entire congressional mass has to realize that these bills don't become enacted without give and take..and that nobody on any side ever gets all they want. Re-election goals of some members often overshadow attempts at forward progress. The lather, rinse, and repeat DC wash cycle is old and annoying...continuing resolutions are just a routine/ regular event in Congress and have been for a long time, unfortunately. Got to get these through the Senate, too...lather, rinse, repeat cycle deja vu. We'll see.

The trouble is, "wasteful gummint spending" is defined by them as "stuff we don't like, don't care about, or will lose us votes." So all the posturing is invariably just an exercide in hypocrisy anyway. Do any of those fuckers vote for the well-being of the people? NO!!!! They just vote for the well-being of big corporations and the rich.
Speaking of which, without the Trump tax giveaways, there would now be, what is it, $2.1 trillion more in the federal budget to allocate for that horrible gummint spending? The giveaways, I would say to those of them that were there at the time, that YOU voted for? Not enough muh-neeeee? Whose (fucking) fault is that?
It's true that these bills never get enacted without some compromises, but the RepubliQ has gone all stonewall hard-line, as if refusal to budge an inch was somehow noble. If they don't re-mutate, in twenty years, they'll be as relevant as the Bovine Manure Party.

You blame all on my side..I blame all sides for these revenue generation / spending issues. Both sides have relentlessly overspent in a wasteful fashion. The numbers are what they are and they're provable. The reelection shenanigans are one root cause of that overspending, which is a long-standing subset of power retention for both / all sides. If truth be known, PACS and SUPERPACS have possibly both directly and indirectly inflicted as much harm on the populace as other more recognized and so called nefarious issues/ influences. Unfortunately, that is the reelection system we're forced to live with and is now so engrained that it can't be overridden in the foreseeable future. I blame both sides and in part these reelection system influences for the debt depth which is partially fueled by additive govt waste, overspending, and an overgrown institutional bureaucracy. Those are all archaic conservative points of view possibly from the late 1700's..but that's my partial take on it all and it won't change. So, jump on your own bandwagon and rein your own team of horses. These involved appropriation bill politicians just can't take themselves down a few notches and shut the hell up, and many of the private negotiations involve solutions/ actions that rival the old La Cosa Nostra. Both sides of the aisle are guilty, too. You'll never convince me otherwise.
In spite of all the above BS, I'm not moving to Canada, Equatorial Guinea, or Tishomingo, OK. I'm convinced that this country can still work somehow... which may be foolishly delusional. In the mean time, we have football season as an enjoyable distraction from these incessant political hoorahs.
Cowboys 35 / Cardinals 17
As usual Kevin is in denial. Spending is up 40% in the last couple of years alone.
Income tax revenue increased after the tax cuts

If that's true, then what caused the horrific deficits after the tax cuts?
Idiot.
