Been watching all the garbage leading up to the primaries. This is something both sides do.
Every ad, it seems, isn't "why you should vote for me"; it's "why the other guy is horrible." And both sides use tired old dog whistle words and phrases. I don't need to give examples. You've all seen it. (So let's keep this nonpartisan.)
I feel like every ad is talking to stupid people. Maybe the lowest common denominator is what they're aiming for. But I would really, really like to hear something about POLICY. I want to know what the mofo plans to do if elected. I don't want to hear shit like (and I quote): "I'll stop the liberal spending that's destroying America." I also don't want to hear "Joe Blow owns stocks in Big Pharma" (so bloody what?).
It's like a job interview. I don't want to hear banal ideological generalities. I want to know: why the fuck should we hire you?
Is that too much to ask?
