The Turd and his lackey are threatening Oregon, in particular Portland, because of their sanctuary laws. They say they'll withhold federal funding if Oregon doesn't immediately round up and kill all brown people and turn control of law enforcement over to ICE. A few reasons why this is an empty threat:
Neither of them has the authority to cut off previously approved federal funding. Portland has already filed suit. Chicago has already won a similar suit.
Sanctuary cities and states are legal and lawful. This has been affirmed by court decisions, including SCOTUS.
Federal funding is 4% of Portland's municipal budget. If that was cut off, the city could raise taxes to compensate.
Oregon was the first sanctuary state. Since then, public referenda have affirmed the people's support for that policy. Oregon just isn't a hate state, and it doesn't depend on the federal government to keep it propped up, like the MAGA shithole states do.
Trump's hate campaigns against states that will never vote for him are a waste of time, money, and resources. His lackeys have told him that. And eventually, he'll get bored.
Thus the governor's recent announcement that Oregon won't comply with the Turd's demands.
