It's quite apparent.
Its just another in a long line of examples of why Churches should pay taxes. If they want to run a homeless shelter, or a food bank, or an orphanage....fine. no tax on that.
But the actual institutions themselves are largely tax shelters for shady businessmen who enrich themselves by the sale of indulgences. The founder of Scientology, L Ron Hubbard, fully confessed the reason he invented his religion was to weasel his way out of taxes. The Jerry Fallwell/Pat Robertson/Joel Osteen crowd is engaged in the same racket.
Its a shame for the people who send them checks....and its a bigger shame for taxpayers that allow these instituions to utilize our public services without chipping in to pay for them.
