The Problem With Democrats

I get criticized here for being one-sided, but I am not a rabid partisan like most of the Republicans here. I have been thinking a lot about the Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez victory since she won, and I have been watching her television interviews since she won.  (BTW she is going to be a rock star.) What makes her different than most Democrats is that she has a platform that she believes in and can articulate in a well-spoken way.  For example, she can succinctly describe Socialism in a way that doesn’t scare people. She doesn’t make apologies for being a liberal or a socialist.

The problem with Hillary and a lot of other Democrats that have run for office over the last few years is that they have no message. Ask them what they believe in or what they want to do if elected and they produce long rambling explanations about how their platform is basically not to offend anyone.  I still remember her response on health care when asked what she would do about it. She went into a long rambling explanation of how she wouldn’t really be able to do anything because of Republicans, insurance Companies, pharmaceutical companies and so on. She said Obamacare as imperfect as it is was the best we could hope for.  But maybe if we elect her and we were really lucky we might be able to work around the edges and do some minor fixes to it.  People don’t want to hear crap like that.

Contrast that to healthcare is a human right and everyone should have it. I am going to work to make sure everyone has it.   This was the message of both Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders.  I think that is why Bernie did so well.  He also took a stand on issues and was for something.

I will let you in on a secret.  Most elected Democrats only want to do what Corporate America is ok with them doing such as LGBT rights and other stuff that doesn’t cost their corporate patrons any money. Mention something like raising the minimum wage and most of them head for the hills.

Am I wrong about this?

I dont have a problem with long rambling solutions to problems.   Most problems are complex and require a thoughtful solution.   I dont trust anyone who can sum up their solution to a problem with a few sound bites.

Does this sound familiar?  "I'm going to replace Obamacare with something wonderful.   Its gonna cover everybody and be cheaper."

Our society has attention deficit disorder.

"but I am not a rabid partisan like most of the Republicans here. I have been thinking a lot about the Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez victory since she won, and I have been watching her television interviews since she won.  (BTW she is going to be a rock star.)"

The fact that you think so highly of this woman contradicts your statement.

To our socialists here.......if you would be so kind as to point out one example of socialism working in a country even near our size.  I'd love to hear all about it.  Alexandria can promise everything in the world to her constituents but her problem is how to deliver.  Kinda like that wonderful health care program that was going to reduce everyone's costs by $2500.  How did that hope/change work out for ya?

As you've both heard many times.....the problem with socialism is that, sooner or later, you even run out of other people's money.

Rock star?  Mark, you really believe that?  Take off the red colored glasses, you are going to lose your eyesight!  You two are the funniest things I get to listen to all day, any day.

Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands, Finland, Canada, France, Belgium, Ireland and so on. Almost every first world Nation is more socialist than us. They aren't running out of money. They have better Healthcare than we do. They have a longer life expectancy than we do. They have higher wages than we do. And their citizens are happier than Americans.

Your kind of thinking is what happens when you choose to be ignorant. You heard some right-winger say oh Venezuela is a disaster because of socialism so you think socialism is a failure everywhere.

You are incapable of distinguishing that Venezuela was a third world country before socialism and not a first world country like the ones I cited.

It was ran by an authoritarian dictator rather than elected officials.  Its economy depends on one commodity oil. Oil prices have been low so the economy there goes to s*** just like in  North Dakota, Oklahoma and and Alaska. The bottom line is it is 3rd world country under socialism just like it was under capitalism. Just because capitalism failed in Venezuela I don't assume it is failing everywhere.

Quit overdosing on the propaganda. Educate yourself so you can talk intelligently with people that don't share the same views that you do.

My all time favorite line ...Socialism and other people's money.

What kind of "ism" just created the largest deficits in history for the upcoming year?   Lets call it LVFRitz-ism.

How about "Obama-ism"..... "shovel ready jobs, health care costing the same as your cell phone, if I had a son, you can keep your doctor, at least I was (the most pathetic) president, Donald Trump will never be president ----Shall I go on?

"What kind of "ism" just created the largest deficits in history for the upcoming year?"

Trumpism according to the CBO even with the magical thinking the Republicans made them use in their calculations.

In Europe by the time you get done with income taxes & VATS the tax rate is over 50%

My Ireland guide told me last year, he needed a procedure & the surgeon told him it was a 3 month wait. He told the surgeon he had private insurance. He got in a week later

Amazing how the liberals after blowing thru $10 trillion now complain about deficits.

A higher % of Democrats voted for the last budget than Republicans

How will mark’s new idol pay for guaranteed federal jobs, Medicare for all & guaranteed housing?

How can we have Medicare for all, when the present Medicare is already trillions in the hole?
