I get criticized here for being one-sided, but I am not a rabid partisan like most of the Republicans here. I have been thinking a lot about the Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez victory since she won, and I have been watching her television interviews since she won. (BTW she is going to be a rock star.) What makes her different than most Democrats is that she has a platform that she believes in and can articulate in a well-spoken way. For example, she can succinctly describe Socialism in a way that doesn’t scare people. She doesn’t make apologies for being a liberal or a socialist.
The problem with Hillary and a lot of other Democrats that have run for office over the last few years is that they have no message. Ask them what they believe in or what they want to do if elected and they produce long rambling explanations about how their platform is basically not to offend anyone. I still remember her response on health care when asked what she would do about it. She went into a long rambling explanation of how she wouldn’t really be able to do anything because of Republicans, insurance Companies, pharmaceutical companies and so on. She said Obamacare as imperfect as it is was the best we could hope for. But maybe if we elect her and we were really lucky we might be able to work around the edges and do some minor fixes to it. People don’t want to hear crap like that.
Contrast that to healthcare is a human right and everyone should have it. I am going to work to make sure everyone has it. This was the message of both Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders. I think that is why Bernie did so well. He also took a stand on issues and was for something.
I will let you in on a secret. Most elected Democrats only want to do what Corporate America is ok with them doing such as LGBT rights and other stuff that doesn’t cost their corporate patrons any money. Mention something like raising the minimum wage and most of them head for the hills.
Am I wrong about this?
