Stand your ground, unless it's a schoolground that you are paid to protect. Then run away.

This is the correct verdict in this case and it also illustrates why regular citizens shouldn't be able to own military style weapons. Expecting a 60-year-old out of shape cop with a side arm to have the tactical training and ability to go Johnny Rambo against someone using lethal force with an AR-15 is pure fantasy.
Hell there was a whole army of cops in their prime clad in body armor and equipped with better weapons that were afraid to go into the school at Uvalde.
The only response to events like this is a team of folks with special forces like ability/training and weapons.
Again, proof that the conservative fantasy that a lone good guy with a gun can stop mass shootings is ludicrous. Conservatives need to pony up the tax dollars to cover the massive cost of equipping each school in America with a tactical response team if they want people to be able to own these types of weapons. I suggest a gun and ammo sales tax high enough to pay the costs.
DeSantis' government was the plaintiff in the case....so his position was to punish the officer. The jury let him go, not DeSantis.
I didnt really follow the case so I dont have an opinion on it. I'll defer to the jury.

Yes, he was attempting to find someone to blame rather than having to take some sort of action against these types of weapons.

The 60 year old out of shape cop took an oath
To protect and knew shootings could occur.
Also the school is responsible for bringing this
Coward in to provide this protection.
No one expected him to be Rambo but running
Away should not be expected either.

He had four minutes to determine where the shots were coming from and then formulate a plan. It may surprise you but cops don't have a legal obligation to rush in by themselves. Especially, when they don't know what the situation is. His training would have said for him to call for back up and take cover until reinforcements arrive. He is probably going to get a very large settlement from the city.
The conservitard nonsense dogma, that if everyone has guns, we'll all be safer, is dangerous and idiotic. Florida Man got pissed off that a 60 year old cop didn't want to go all John McLain. Instead, he did what his training dictated.
I like the idea of taxing the living shit out of gun and ammo sales. Also, gun dealers should pay $100,000 a year for their licenses. Dealing in death should be costly.
