Proof that liberal policies don't work...oh WAIT!!

I didn't object to the general historical comparison regarding real GDP growth rates between R vs D administrations. The numbers/ facts are what they are and the D's generally outperformed  my evil R's even after consideration of the requisite time lags that often overlap/ conflate these econometric comparisons between cpposing administrations ..with the notable exception of Reagan vs Carter. That was my only point, and I even labeled my assertion as a cherry- picking exercise in my original comment. I errantly omitted the "growth rate" phrasing..and that pushed buttons on Mr P's manipulative ways and means machine. Scuse me, Mr. P...feel better until your next overreactive episode.

This entire historical GDP growth comparative scenario has balooned into a futile jawfest in here with no real bearing on the current situation confronting the populace regarding paying bills, buying food and fuel, purchasing any / all daily essentials, and/or funding trips to Disneyland or Vegas, for instance.  With certainty, I won't be charged with "no class or integrity" as he suggested...especially not in here even when I might make a textual entry error on occasion. So, with that now corrected, maybe we can all relax and watch some damned football. That's what I and my imperfect ass is focused on..

Cowboys 30 , Jets 17  ( just for imperfect entertainment purposes in defiance of the real game odds / spread)

Exciting, isn't it?

Bread and circuses, but without the bread ($5.99 a loaf at your local Funky Mart). 49ers will cover, 27-17. There. Now you don't need to watch the game.

Going back to the (ick) subject, evaluating the current situation to the extent that we can accurately label it (such as calling it a recession or the greatest economy in human history, etc.) is a fool's errand, because the factors now in play are unprecedented. How well or badly off you are might depend on your personal consumption of gasoline or the currently hard to obtain Ukraine Bran. It's clear that some are thriving...others, not so much.

But one thing 'twas ever thus: big corporations are making record profits. So when you're paying your fifty-bucks-more-than-last-week grocery bill, take comfort that you're helping to fulfill the sole purpose of AMURRICA--enhancing shareholder value.

Go Niners!!

But one thing 'twas ever thus: big corporations are making record profits

Another kevin lie

The (blended) net profit margin for the S&P 500 for Q2 2023 is 11.1%, which is below the previous quarter’s net profit margin (11.5%), below the year-ago net profit margin (12.2%), and below the 5-year average (11.4%). If 11.1% is the actual net profit margin for the quarter, it will mark the sixth straight quarter in which the net profit margin for the index has declined year-over-year.

All under biden's watch

that effect, according to several academic papers I've read, takes about five years to materialize.

PROOF?

I'm not going to ask you to read academic papers, stupid Tommie-poo. Way too many big words.

The S&P 500 constitute only a small fraction of the nation's corporations, stupid. God, how you love to cherry-pick data.

Stupid Tommie-poo.
