Purdue cost of attendance

Mitch Daniels, a past very conservative and successful governor in Indiana took over Purdue some 14 years ago.  After seeing the massive waste and spending from past Liberal Purdue presidents, Daniels frooze spending....just as he did as our Indiana governor.  Liberals claimed that they sky would fall, and the quality of education would plummet.

14 years later, the cost to attend Purdue is 2.5% cheaper than it was.  The quality of student has improved, attendance has surged, the private research dollars coming to Purdue has skyrocketed, and the local economy has boomed.  For example, a $4,000,000,000 computer chip plant is being built.  Kevin, that many zoros equates to billions.

Liberals are very effective at pissing money away.  How can Purdue serve better food, provide a better education without raising the cost for 14 years, if not for Liberals pissing away money before he arrived?

Wow that is good news, is it the SK Hynix advanced packaging plant? Good job Indiana!

From Yahoo News and Bloomberg April 3, 2024:

"(Bloomberg) -- SK Hynix Inc. plans to spend $3.87 billion building an advanced packaging plant and research center for artificial intelligence products in Indiana, marking a win for the Biden administration as it seeks to increase semiconductor output on American soil."

"Wednesday’s announcement is part of that total commitment, the Korean company said. SK Hynix has also applied for grants from the Chips and Science Act, which is aimed at promoting the return of semiconductor manufacturing to the US."

Also CNBC April 4, 2024:

"Sen. Todd Young, R-Ind., said in a statement “The CHIPS and Science Act opened a door that Indiana has been able to sprint through, and companies like SK hynix are helping to build our high-tech future.”"

The CHIPS Act was sponsored by Senator Mark Kelly (D-AZ) and cosponsored by Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX), Todd Young (R-IN), Sherrod Brown (D-OH), Bill Hagerty (R-TN), Martin Heinrich (D-NM) and Krysten Sinema (I-AZ) . Then, of course, signed into law by Biden.

Sure sounds like Purdue is doing higher education the right way, good for them!

Congrats to everyone involved in Purdue's apparent improvement!

Of course, according to the US News and World Report rankings, Purdue still trails far behind.

UCLA

UC Berkeley

UC Irvine

UC San Diego

UC Davis

UC Santa Barbara

Let's congratulate them too! And Boilerman, you know what all of those C's stand for, don't you?

To bad so many deserving kids can't afford those schools because of decades of overspending for little of value.  14 years ago, University of Illinois was the same cost as Purdue.  Now Illinois costs 73% more.

Oh, and my Purdue friends who got masters from UC Irvine, UC Santa Barbara, and another from USC would disagree with the Liberal assessment of the quality of education at these schools

Points for wokeness doesn't teach a thing.

You cant be for the chips plant being built in Indiana while also being against Joe Biden's spending program that is paying for it.

Unless you're Boilerman.

But I'm happy for the investment.  Eli Lilly is also building a huge campus just south of there as part of their ongoing expansion.

Boiler is a Purdue graduate. Yet, his reasoning skills and argumentative tactics would shame a six year old.

Kinda tells you what a Purdue diploma is worth.

I support the government incentives for chips because it's a national security issue.

My point is that colleges, which are almost exclusively run by Liberals, are pissing money away.  I'm happy that Purdue is no longer doing so.

I'm heading to Purdue Baseball's final regular season game on May 18.  Purdue is tied for 1st in a fairly weak league, so we'll need to win the regular season title to make the tournament.  Nebraska is the only Big 10 lock to make the tournament.
