Rainbow and Emerald Island

Posting this in the kitchen sink just so the few brave that venture into this section see it.  :)

Just got back from four days in Vegas.  Was able to coax the wife to go to EI and Rainbow on Tuesday for breakfest and then some play. (we did mostly EI this day)   At first she thought I was pulling a fast one but I just said "trust me, you will like this adventure."  I got the normal eye-roll but she is pretty good with my adventures, trusts me moving around Vegas after my 175 lifetime trips and we did have a car afterall so why not use it.  (Kevin gave me the tips on this place mainly.)

Happy to say we both really enjoyed it!  It really is going back in time 10-20 years in Vegas.  People are all friendly and they have small promotions but good ones.  The best part is the vast array of playable video poker close to break even.  Especially multi-line!  I don't want to dump thousands into a machine to play multiline at other places any more; I just like playing now.  But here you can play 1c, 2c and 5c and you can even play for bigger dollars if you want by maxing out 30 coins per line.  My wife played 5 line nickel NSUD and I played 10 line nickel NSUD as we were just trying to get our feet wet and put through $2K or so each.  Neither of us hit deuces at all in our sessions but we did well.  She lost $15 and I lost $10 and we had a fun time playing multi-line.  After the $10 we both earned for promo and wheel spin I got with LVA, basically a fun breakeven late morning/early afternoon.  I would have likely came back if I was out there by myself or with my gambling cohorts but this was the wife's B-day trip so we stayed at Southpoint most of the time where we were staying.  Got all the outside vendor coupons but just didn't have the time to use any of them.  The music is big-time plus in my book.  I don't know if it like that all of the time as Tues was senior day but it was Yacht Rock station while played.  That was mostly all 70s and 80s very good softer rock music.  Really enjoyed that. They pour the drinks tall there too.

Only downside is kind of smoky as it is smaller place and obviously no hotel to earn comps at or stay.  But I REALLY liked it.  I'll be back!

Thanks for the report, we're going in December and we'll check it out.

Sounds like you had a good trip.

nice visit ...I always enjoy the Water st casinos.    I also make a point of stopping in at Johnny Mac's just down the road on Boulder Hgwy .   Is the place formerly used by el dorado still closed?    It would be nice if something moved into that space.

I'm not even familar enough with the area to know PJ.  We just went into these two.  The only other thing I've ever done in Henderson in all my other trips of old is the Fiesta properties.  And I'd hit Skyline when they had the FP deuces coral and some other progressives.  This really felt more like Skyline or even say an AZ Charlies to me.

I believe the former El Dorado is now The Pass.  Jerry, I'm happy that you and the misses had a good time.  Sorry you missed the bakery coupon.  The muffin were delicious.

I thought El Dorado became Rainbow, but I never went there when it was the former.

Nice report, Jerry.  Thanks for sharing.

Glad you had a good time! It's great to be able to have a good time and a good meal at a casino without breaking the bank. And as you and the missus noticed, everybody there is friendly and welcoming.

The music, BTW, is pretty much the same every day during the daytime--at about 9 pm, they switch to an edgier, more "modern" soundtrack. But i love hearing all that 70s and 80s stuff!

Now that you're on their radar, you'll receive a monthly food coupon mailer. I don't think they mail free play.

Sounds like you both hit the $1400 coin-in threshold for getting the $20 cashback. Together with the wheel spin, and the breakfast twofer, you even made a profit!

Thanks for sharing some of your enjoyable experiences, Jerry. The wife and I have to get to these player friendly joints next trip.
