Thank the anti-vaxers.  My own niece got on the 'autism' causation bandwagon, emailing us often about what her "research" was warning about vaccinations.  I don't know if she knew that her mom, like 99% of moms, made sure she had all her baby shots, which included the ones she was campaigning against.  She wasn't any kind of a researcher or research analyst.  Just jumped on something she found that gave her an internet platform to look smart about.
