Well, I had agreed with Kevin, but David's boldface font convinced me.

What year was that video?  Clinton hasn't looked that good in a long time.  Just sayin'...

And, David, what is your point?   Does anybody support illegal immigration, illegal anything?

Maybe I'm missing something.   Perhaps the manner in which the 'illegal-ness' has been/is/is not being managed?

Candy, surely you've seen all the MAGA propaganda that bleats about OPUN BORDURS under Democrat Presidents and barriers of steel and fire guarded by fierce warrior angels under Republicans?

Keep in mind that David has repeatedly claimed that there has been NO illegal immigration under Trump. Not one person. Not one.

When a fool repeatedly makes a claim that is obviously absurd, that gives you an idea of the veracity of any other claims he may make.

David would answer your question with the tiresome MAGA fart: yes, Democrats support illegal immigration. Zillions and kabillions of murderers and rapists flooding across the border. That bullshit got Trump elected in 2016, after all, so no wonder they keep flogging it.

Also keep in mind that race hatred has always been a core philosophy for MAGA, so bellowing about ILLEGULS is always going to be a major element of their propaganda.

I would just ask anyone who has a brain or common decency whether they really care about Jorge laboring in the desert sun, picking kiwi fruit for $9 an hour, five times what he could make back home. Is anybody with any sense or compassion REALLY kerfuffled by that??

I suspect there is a lot of misuse, misunderstanding, misapplication of the word 'illegal' as applied to immigration.

Using Kevin's example, what is Jorge's citizenship/immigrant/migrant status?

"In the complex landscape of immigration, terms like refugees, asylum seekers and migrants are often used interchangeably, leading to confusion and misunderstanding."  Italics are mine.

That quote, and helpful clarification of terms, including crime rates among refugees, asylum seekers, and undocumented migrants, is available on this link, if it works.  I'm a dunce at trying to post links.  Or just Google immigration and you get plenty.

I don't really give a crap about the legal nuances, and I doubt that most people do, either. The only relevant issue is whether it's worth

a) Expending vast amounts of resources and manpower

b) Violating the Bill of Rights and the Civil Rights Act

in order to hunt down Jorge and drag him away. It's my opinion that we should only enforce crimes the commission of which actually causes harm. Illegal immigration doesn't do that, despite all the MAGA rhetoric.

And you can carry that much further. Immigration, both legal AND legal, helps ease labor shortages; the taxes laborers pay ease the deficit; and immigrants contribute to our culture. That's why we don't twist ourselves into knots trying to enforce immigration laws; it would be counterproductive.

Without bothering to click on your link, I already know the distinction. Refugees and asylum seekers are fleeing from harm or the threat thereof. Immigrants are here to work, study, and stay for a short or long period. Some intend to become citizens. We should treat those groups much differently from one another.

It has historically been far easier to enter the US as a refugee than as a worker/immigrant. That's because of, y'know, what's stamped on the plaque at the base of the Statue of Liberty. But Americans have never believed in it. Every single wave of immigrants has been met with open hostility by those who got here first. But these days, immigrants like Jorge are doing the low-paid shit work that nobody else wants to do, so the South Park THAR TAKIN ARE JOBZ!! scream is kind of stupid.

So should evil little scumbags be posting copied and pasted anti-immigration screeds on the message board of a gambling website? No.

Kevin, I guess I was a bit too indirect in making my case for knowing what is and what is not 'illegal', 'illegal aliens', etc. as applied to immigration by our co-posters here in KS.  Because I'm with you on this one!

Actually, I like the word "undocumented" better than "illegal", which paints such a broad a connotation that folks automatically assume means criminal, evil, etc.  I like unauthorized even better.   Heck, today I acted illegally as I drove 62 mph down a 50 mph road.

Had you followed the link you would have seen the actual favorable crime rate data (as you and I see it) concerning those groups, the refugees, asylum seekers and migrants.

"According to a large and growing body of local, state, and national research commit crimes at lower rates than U.S. citizens.  According to the Migration Policy Institute, while being present in the United States without authorization respresents an administrative infraction (punishable by removal), unauthorized immigrants [my italics] are less likely to commit misdemeanor and felony crimes than the U.S.-born population and other immigrant groups."

Personally, if/when I'm gonna take a stand on something, if/when I'm gonna go off on a rant about it one way or the other, I want to be reasonably sure I know of what I speak, as best I can.  I believe that is often lacking in public discourse today, specifically hot button issues.  That was  pretty much my point as related to 'illegal' immigration, the subject of the video at the start of this thread.

But I know I can get picky about how things are worded.

The video depicts the flip flopping of the corrupt DemocRAT party concerning illegal immigration. All of the stupidity/lies expoused here by Lewis are negated by the video content. You cannot unring that bell.
