I have been a member here since 2002, so I feel qualified to render this opinion. Often, the liberal members here have been brigaded until they leave or finally have enough and react by breaking the rules themselves. Once the conservative brigades successfully provoke someone into reacting, they get out the forum rule book, call the teacher and stand in a circle pointing their fingers at the liberal rule breaker demanding that action be taken against them.
Forkish and Chillcoot come to mind as examples of what happens. I have experienced this brigading myself and I am pretty sure PJ has as well. How this works is some of the more conservative members here continuously violate the rules personally insulting the liberal member, calling them out in threads they haven't even read or chose to participate in and then even follow them around the forum into threads that have nothing to do with politics offering snarky comments and or name-calling in any post or comments they make on other areas of the forum or site.
I find it particularly ironic this go around David Miller is complaining the loudest. Since the new forum has opened, he has constantly ignored the rule about not making something personal.
I greatly appreciate that AC added this forum and I hope we can all make it work. It is not hard. If somebody says something you don't like, take a deep breath and count to three before you react. Criticize their idea or their point not them personally.
BTW I don't profess to be perfect myself. That is why I don't run to AC every time someone says something that offends my sensibilities.
