This info is excerpted from Bill Maher's show last Friday, the "New Rules" segment, which you can easily find if you want to see the whole thing:

Utah senator Mike Lee: "We're not a democracy. Democracy isn't the objective: liberty, peace, and prosperity are. We want the human condition to flourish. Rank democracy can thwart that."

Rachel Hamm, Republican candidate for Secretary of State in California: "I want to make it hard to vote. I want it to be a privilege to vote."

Loren Culp, Republican congressional candidate in Washington: "Democracy is mob rule."

My God.

Republicans now think that democracy is fundamentally wrong; that the electorate is a "mob" and that voting is a privilege, not a right. "Rank democracy"--when all those funny-smelling people are allowed to vote!

When you take away a fundamental right and instead make it a privilege that is bestowed by the ruling class, that right is gone forever. This is what the Republican party now wants. And that's what it's going to get, because they've managed to sell the white bigot faction on the idea that taking away the right to vote from "THEM" will make things safer for "US."

This is truly horrifying, but I certainly expect our resident conservitards to rush to its defense. C'mon Boiler, David, stupid Tommie-poo, Charles, etc.; tell us why you agree that "the mob" shouldn't be allowed to vote.
