RIP Tina Turner 😢

This one hit me hard. I remember loving her version of Proud Mary and getting excited every time it was played on the radio or TV when I was a little boy.

When I was in high school her solo career was at its peak.  I remember going to the theater to watch her in Mad Max Thunderdome. I wouldn't have paid for that ticket if she wasn't in it.

My favorite song of her's was Private Dancer.  I think my love and admiration of African American women started with her.

She was in her mid 40s when Private Dancer came out.

No other voice like that of Tina (or Anna Mae Bullock).  What style.  What courage, to leave that jerk Ike Turner, with just about nothing but her name of Tina Turner.  I hadn't heard about her death.  She's one I regret never having seen in concert.  RIP.

IMO Macy Gray came the closest to sounding like her.
