IMHO these back and forth arguments about who is better/worse, Biden or Trump, are, at best, tiresome. The two are constitutionally (age, agility, etc.) as different as day and night. Different backgrounds. Different/opposite political parties (the most significant difference for these Kitchen Sink battles). Now we suspect one has likely been suffering the ravages of old age in a job requiring, as mentioned, "vigor and a ridiculous amount of bold communication", while the other has "bold" in spades and has no fear of shooting from the hip while on camera, whether he has the best, or desired, answer or not.
The one got elected, again. Amazing, considering his "loose cannon" personna and embarrassing record around blatant sexual immorality, which, in way earlier decades, would not have been tolerated in a presidential candidate (if known). Remember Thomas Eagleton, picked to be the Dem running mate of McGovern? Veteran, Harvard law, a state Atty Gen then Lt Governor; it was 'leaked' that he was under treatment for depression; shocking! the nation gasped...mental health treament? and tossed from the ticket for that. Would he have been a good VP, and maybe later a good presidential candidate? Depression is hell on earth, so perhaps it was a wise decision for that reason, but to the public, admitting to seeing a shrink was...shameful!! He's a witch!! We will never know, though after that dust up he served 20 years as a US Senator from that state, so some must have thought him worthy of public service. Just an example.
I was just out of nursing school, paying no attention to that 'political stuff' at the time. But every candidate, win or lose, brings garbage. I can tell you that Donald Trump, Rep has nothing on Clinton, Dem, as far as having multiple extramarital affairs PRIOR to being elected. But he was young and handsome, a polished speaker, a state Governor. Georgetown U, Rhodes Scholarship,Yale law. He had it all except family money. He was smart and handsome and polished. I guess by that time the public was sensitized (or is it desensitized?) to sexual immorality. Most overlooked it, apparently.
Nixon, Rep, no need to into that. Lyndon Johnson, Dem, he started the war in Vietnam based on later confirmed untruths (the gunboat attack in the Gulf of Tonkin never happened), and kept it going for political gain for him and McNamara. They ran the war instead of leaving it to experienced military strategists, who could have ended it quickly and saved some 50,000+ young American lives and millions of Vietnamese. Shameful...not the poor soldiers who fought and were unfairly rebuked on return, but shame on Lyndon Johnson and McNamara who ignored facts and recommendations from those who knew what was going on and what should be done.
Sorry to go on and on.
