San Francisco Defecation Map

PJStroh Overall writes: "I'm glad there is a massive exodus of people from high-tax states like California to Mississippi as our resident conservatives like to narrate."

Actually neither of those States is particularly noteworthy for state-to-state moves.

For 2018:

The top inbound states were:

  1. Vermont
  2. Oregon
  3. Idaho
  4. Nevada
  5. Arizona
  6. South Carolina
  7. Washington
  8. North Carolina
  9. South Dakota
  10. District of Columbia

The top outbound states were:

  1. New Jersey
  2. Illinois
  3. Connecticut
  4. New York
  5. Kansas
  6. Ohio
  7. Massachusetts
  8. Iowa
  9. Montana
  10. Michigan

Overall there were more folks leaving "Democrat" states and more folks arriving in "Republican" states, . . . if one ponders what life is like in New Jersey, Illinois, and Connecticut, . . . compared to, say, . . . Vermont, Oregon, and Idaho, . . . it's easy to understand.

Survey finds more than 1 in 10 if SF's homeless population have jobs but cant afford to pay rent

So, does it follow that 9 out of 10 of SF's homeless CAN afford to pay rent?

Or that 90% of the homeless are participants in Don's map.  Thanls PJ for proving the point.

Help me out - is that the norm for all cities?    I confess I dont know many homeless people in Indianapolis - but I've never known one to have a full time job.

PJ, we don't have many Indy homeless since we don't covet and reward them, at least not to the extent of those in California.

Homeless pop is in the rise in NYC under comrade deblasio.

Once rare, now finding passed out homelessness on subways is normal. More & more on the streets & in Grand Central Station.

It's amazing.  When you reward the homeless, you get more homeless.

The Washington Post reports that the District of Columbia housing authorities began placing the city's homeless in upscale apartments in 2016.

The results did not work out well for the residents of Sedgewick Gardens, a building on the National Register of  Historic Places, into which some of the homeless were relocated.  The residents subsequently have noted: ". . . panhandling, the stench of marijuana, and [ a connection to this thread ] feces in a stairwell."

Nobody saw that coming !

Majority of the homeless are "homeless" because of their choices. The small percentage who find themselves homeless because of circumstances they could not control are the only ones I have any sympathy for. If these people truly wish to have a better life there are agencys and programs available. It is their choice if they partake in these offerings. In a manner, they are no different than drug abusers and alcoholics - and many of them are one or both. Giving in and helping their lifestyle choice without them changing their choices will change nothing for them, and will only be a drain on the emotions of those wishing to help and a financial drain of government resources. One thing is certain, they have no right living on the streets and should not be allowed to. You can call my personal view points harsh and me hard hearted - it still does not change the reality of what I have stated here. Let the liberal bashing begin....

About a quarter of the homeless suffer severe mental illness.  They should be institutionalized and treated by doctors.

For women, Domestic Violence is the leading cause of homelessness.   They should be helped back into society and their abusers jailed.

A big portion of the homeless are substance abusers.  They should be given a choice...Rehab or Jail.

Then there's those who are really trying but unemployed or don't earn enough to pay for themselves.  Maybe if we weren't importing hundreds of thousands of new illegal, low skilled, homeless people from Central America we might just have more resouces to help our American Homeless.  And maybe there would be more housing available for Americans.  And maybe wages would go up for low skilled impoverished American Workers.
