Scared Shitless in Vegas Employees at Cosmopolitan casino call it the Wuhan of the strip

We DO NOT yet have tests that give us timely AND accurate results.

We DO NOT have proven vaccines yet.  We DO NOT have proven cures yet.

What do we have?  Masks, distancing, and sanitization.  Simple things that make a difference.

Patronize only places where those things are mandated.

I'll be in Vegas in four weeks, and I won't worry for a minute.  Could I get the virus......sure.  Being a whiny 11 year old girl is no way to go through life.  Unless, of course, you're a whiny 11 year old girl.

The current death toll in our nation is the equivalent of three 747 crashes with no survivors every single day. Or about 250 Benghazi's daily.

Now tell me you wouldn't get worked up over that.

Masks, distancing, and sanitization only reduce transmission to an, as yet, unknown degree. They don't remotely promise that an individual practicing all the best protective methods will not get very, very sick when spending a large amount of time in a casino located in a city where the virus has been raging.

Even if Covid doesn't kill you, it may leave you with permanent heart, lung, nervous system or other organ damage, ensuring the rest of your life will be a living hell.

Even if Covid doesn't leave you permanently disabled, it may be weeks to months before you make a full recovery, and the anxiety caused by not knowing if you will ever recover fully will cause unfathomable psychic pain.

Even if Covid doesn't make you an invalid for weeks to months, it may make you feel like you wished you were dead for a week or two. Think back to the last time you had flu. How much fun was that?

And for what are you taking these risks? Playing slot machines????

But enjoy that turf 'n surf like it's your last meal, because it may be. Or maybe it'll only be the last meal when you'll be able to taste food since the virus has the nasty tendency to kill the olfactory bulb.

So go out there and win some Royals!!!

Unbelievable.

Yes, you are.

I will do my part to stimulate the economy, even if it increases my risk of sickness.  Because of "hide at home" policies, the economy will continue to collapse.  Far more will die from a failed economy that will ever die from this virus.

Of course the death toll is horrible.  Why it's almost half the deaths due to obesity.  Close to a third the totally unecessary deaths due to tobacco use.  Maybe if we shut down the economy people won't be able to afford to smoke or get fat.  We could save ourselvs thousands of armed felons who die resisting arrest.  Now tell me you wouln't get worked up over that.

Actually, 100% of Covid deaths are due to Covid. Obesity etc. are called comorbidities. Conflating the two is called dishonesty.

Has anyone other than me bothered to reseach what an economic downturn does to the United States mortality rate?  I provided that data months ago which was ignored by all.

Ignoring this is convenient, lazy, and reckless.  Our current economic lockdown will kill far more than the virus ever will.  The interested person will do the research as the data is easily available online.  Pull up two bunches of inforation.....................1.  monthly GNP, and look for 70 years of history and notice major downturns by groups of years.  2.  Pull up US mortality rates and/or US life expectancy by year, and see how they correspond to the economic downturns.

Why anyone who actually cares about the US mortality rate would ignore this information is beyond me.  It makes me think that some people are using the virus as a political issue.  If not, explain to me why this data is ignored.

I do care about the economy.

I'm doing pretty much what I've always done.  The only difference is that I wear a mask and I observe the six feet distance as best I can.  I've flown X 2 and  spent four days gambling in a casino.   Hair cuts and manicures continue as usual.

From what I see people have become accustomed to wearing masks everywhere and being considerate with the distancing.

My point:  Taking measures to avoid the virus (mask, etc.) and continuing normal activities and economic contributions are not mutually exclusive.

If they are open, I will come and spend money.
