Fact Check: California Fires. Spoiler ALert: Trump and our Conservative poster are all liars
Not that Tom ever has shame about be confronted with his lies.
Cliff Notes:
1) Newsom “refused to sign the water restoration declaration. THis is FALSE
2) The one inch fish is to blame. This is False. The Fish Tom cries about is in Northern Ca and has nothing to do with any resevoir anywhere near LA.
3) There is a water shortage in Southern California that prevents the fires from being put out. THIS IS FALSE.
4) Our resident conservatives are filthy liars that make shit up like they did in the wake of Ashville flooding. THIS IS TRUE.
Items 1 & 2 are true. Most of southern and central Ca's water comes from the northern part of the state (which gets the most rain) and feeds the south. However newsom and company have worked hard to prevent this. He blew up dams, didn't build the resovoirs even though there was money and land for it.
The California newspaper The Desert Sun, in 2019, Trump signed new federal regulations allowing water to flow from Northern California into the Central Valley.
Newsom announced a lawsuit in response, as reported by the San Francisco Chronicle. California Attorney General Xavier Becerra sued, requesting the decision to be delayed citing federal environmental violations. The California lawsuit stated: "California has a sovereign and statutorily mandated interest in protecting species and their habitat within the state from harm
As reported by the Los Angeles Times, new rules introduced in December 2024, overseen by Newsom's office and President Joe Biden's administration, changed the operation of California's water delivery in the Central Valley. Officials said it would provide water for farms and cities and protect vulnerable fish species.
Below is is both funny and sad.
Newsom was caught on video in a bizarre dodge: A resident of Pacific Palisades demanded to know how he intended to deal with the fact that her daughter’s school had burned down.
Newsom, phone in hand, said he was “literally” calling President Biden right at that very moment — but when the woman asked him to prove it, he admitted he had no reception.
Meanwhile we have biden making fire jokes and false statements.
He also blamed the water crisis on … power companies shutting transmission off. That’s a claim blown up both by the utility company responsible for powering the area of LA now burning and by LA’s own public works department
THen we have mayor bass
“If you need help, emergency information, resources and shelter is available. All of this can be found at URL,” the progressive dimwit bumbled at a press conference.
Then there is the fire chief who is more concerned about DEI than having enough trucks, water and fighting fires.
Chief Crowley leads a diverse department. Creating, supporting, and promoting a culture that values diversity, inclusion, and equity while striving to meet and exceed the expectations of the communities are Chief Crowley’s priorities.”
Which is strange, because most fire chiefs strive to promote a culture of putting out fires. But not Crowley, or the syrupy, stone-cold stupid media in California that fawned over her. In one recent TV interview, Crowley was asked about her new bureau in the LAFD. Guess what this exciting new bureau was? A bureau of diversity, equity and inclusion. As she told local media: “So, by creating this new bureau — our diversity, equity and inclusion bureau — now we actually have the staff to do the work when it comes to doing a deep dive in regard to how we do business, how we take care of one another.”
Because it seemed to horrify Crowley and California media that out of 3,300 city firefighters, only 115 were women. “People ask me, well, ‘What number are you looking for?’ ” she claimed, before answering her own question. “I’m not looking for a number. It’s never enough.” True. One of the things that residents of California were definitely thinking this week as they were chaotically and incompetently ordered to leave their homes was: “If only we had more lady firefighters. After all, you can never have enough.”
