Trump has spent the last six months running around the country, crowing and flapping his arms, telling his lackeys and adoring followers that he plans to become a dictator and use the government to destroy his enemies. People have just laughed and said, "That's just Trump being Trump" and "He could never do that."
Now, the Supreme Court says he can.
The consequence of delaying Trump's criminal trials, or the final resolution thereof, was always going to occur. Trump's lawyer-snakes have been angling for delay for months. They were always going to get it. The far more significant consequence is that Trump's dictator-ravings are now being taken seriously by voters. Many MAGAs who were formerly unwavering supporters now feel uneasy about supporting a man who not only has openly professed his goal of becoming king, but also has been given the means to do it.
Of course, this won't show up in the polls, as the MAGAs having second thoughts will still answer poll questions with a resounding "Uh...yeah, sure." But MANY of them will actually stay home on Election Day, no matter who Trump's opponent is--enough to sway the balance.
We're out of the woods. And the delicious part is that MAGA thinks this was a victory for Trump. MAGOO!!
