Corina Luckenbach, the owner of a West Seattle waffle shop, lamented that she had no choice but to close down her business when the city’s new minimum wage law went into effect on Jan. 1, raising hourly pay to $20.76.According to The New York Post, "The new $20.76 per hour law — which is $4 higher than Washington State’s minimum wage requirement — applies to large and small businesses. It also eliminates tip or benefit credits."--So the purpose of having a $20.00 an hour minimum wage is to help people live/survive/etc. Since it's actually causing businesses to close and these said people (that are supposed to be helped) are now unemployed - and if their not unemployed, they get their hours cut. This law was sooo well planned and thought out. -- At least Leftist government restrictions are eating their own -- in this case, anyway. If blue cities and states continue their government interference in a supply and demand issue, more of these cities will begin to resemble the haunting and abandoned cities in the old Twilight Zone episodes. --$20/hr may sound like a good deal, until you realize that there are no companies left to hire you. -- Minimum wage is for people with minimum job skills. There would be no incentive for a person to go to college or to improve their work skills if you're gonna pay them $20 an hour to flip burgers. That aside, unreasonably high minimum wages raise prices, which in turn end up hurting consumers, the minimum-wage earners themselves AND the economy as a whole.--She is receiving the results of voting DemocRatic.. Meanwhile the "pay hike for some 9.2 million workers" ignores the number of those workers who lost their entire paycheck and their jobs when the higher operating cost prompted the owner to close their business and terminate all their employees.
