Senate Republicans Purpose Nationwide Abortion Ban

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) will announce plans for a new bill on national abortion restrictions Tuesday.

Did I call this or what?  As I said previously, the whole state's rights thing was just a ruse to get a nationwide abortion ban in place.  Republicans are so eager to pass this that they couldn't even wait until after the midterms to announce it. I am glad to see Miss Lindsey is finally being honest about Republican intentions.

Miss Lindsey thinks those slutty pregnant 10-year-old girls should be forced to have their rapist's babies.

It's as if they don't realize, or don't care, how unpopular such a bill would be and the complete zero chance it would have of passing. Is the RepubliQ reduced to nothing more than political stunts and virtue signaling?

Female voters especially will note carefully who votes yes on this bill.

It doesn't matter if it doesn't pass now.  The plan is to pass it when Republicans control the House, Senate and White House. This is just the coming soon trailer.

I wonder just how the country would react if this Haidmaid's Tale legislation ever came to pass. Not favorably, I'm guessing.

But could it ever get past even a RepubliQ-controlled Senate? They'd need a 60-40 majority to stop the filibuster, and no way could they achieve that. They chuckled to themselves and crowed out loud when they used the filibuster to stop progressive legislation. I'm sure they'll whine loudly when the same tactic is used against them.

But if that bill ever did pass--I'd love to see Oregon and other non-asshole states openly defy the abortion ban and dare the Trump II administration to send in troops. We wouldn't shoot at them--that's the way they express their dissatisfaction in Arkansas and such. We'd just give them a plate of marionberry pastries and some craft beer.

Oh, they will do away with the fillibuster.

It will be left up to each state as is should be.

Nope. The ban would apply to ALL states unless they have even more restrictive laws.

But Boilerman, just for fun why don't you tell us where you heard that claim? (Or just go away, humiliated.)

Then how come Republicans want a national ban? In our system of government Federal law trumps state law.

Time to find a new bullshit rationale.    "States rights" is officially toast.

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) introduced a bill on Tuesday that would ban abortion nationally after 15 weeks. Driving the news: "We will introduce legislation ... to get America in a position at the federal level I think is fairly consistent with the rest of the world," Graham said Tuesday in announcing the legislation. The legislation includes exceptions for situations involving rape, incest or risks to the life and physical health of the mother.
