1. A citizen may own ONE handheld firearm, with chambers or a magazine that can hold a maximum of eight bullets. The weapon can have only limited range; hollow-point or military-grade ammunition is not allowed; and the weapon must be registered and kept in safe storage.
2. A citizen may own ONE hunting rifle. That weapon cannot be capable of firing multiple shots without reloading. The same ammo and storage restrictions as in #1 apply.
3. No convicted felon may own any type of gun.
4. If a gun is used in an act that results in the injury or death of a person, the owner of the gun may be held criminally liable, either for negligence or as an accessory to a criminal act.
5. All sales of guns shall be strictly regulated and purchasers must sign an affidavit testifying, under penalty of perjury, that they are not violating restrictions #1 and #2, above. Universal background checks will be enforced, as well as a 72-hour waiting period.
There's nothing in this plan for gun-love conservitards to bitch about. They'll still be able to defend themselves against threats real and imaginary, and go into the forest and blow away some animals if that gets them off.
