I'm researching which US companies will be hurt the most by a) Trump's tariffs and/or b) the retaliatory tariffs that will surely follow. I'm concentrating on those companies that use raw materials imported from Canada in the manufacture of their products, and to a lesser extent, those companies that rely on food imports from Mexico.
I don't have as good of a sense as to which companies will be most affected by the choking off of trade with China. Certainly, in the short run at least, consumer electronics will take a YUGE hit. But that might enable domestic manufacturers to triple or quadruple their prices, stuffing their pockets with profits. It will probably come down to "whatever's good for Elon."
What stock would you short sell now, and for what time frame (you can vary the length of short sale contracts)?
