Acid test: turn off all the goodies, presents, expensive meals, etc. etc. and THEN ask her. You can't support a 24/7/365 hyper-sybaritic lifestyle for the two of you anyway. Best to find out sooner than later if that's a deal-breaker or not.
Remember, men are romantics but women are pragmatic creatures. She--whoever "she" happens to be at any given time--will cut your heart out and feed it to the cat if that seems to be the most expeditious option. Women only tolerate our obnoxious butts because of what we can give/provide for them. That goes triple when there's an age difference.
My, I'm feeling cynical today :)
Tagging onto Kevin's suggestions, tell her your job/retirement/benefits are expiring soon. Tell her you are OK moving in with her parents so they can help out. LOL.
LOL, Baby hasn't lived with her mom since she was 18. As to the suggestions, I spend very little money on Baby much less than I would if I were dating someone my own age. The last time I was in town I told her I'd take her anywhere she wanted to eat in Vegas. Of all of the places, one could choose to dine in Vegas when someone else offers to pay, she choose Dirt Dog (very good btw) and then she suggested we split an order of fries because the portions were big. That is the kind of girl she is.
In a lot of ways, she is the perfect girl for me. She is cheap like me, pretty to look at and hedonistic when it comes to sex. While I talk up her wild side here, I can't stress enough how often I have observed her going out of her way to be kind to others while we are out. She cried tears of joy when I took her to the dolphin show at the Mirage and that was the real highlight of my last trip. She had never seen dolphins other than on TV.
Fundamentally, she is just a really good person. She is definitely a much better person than I am.
I am not going to go into the details of her upbringing because I know she wouldn't like me sharing them with the world, but I'll just say she has overcome a hell of a lot of adversity in her life.
For the past couple of months, I have been busy acquiring equipment to start a small home-based business in my free time. When I get it up and running and get the margins right, I am going to clone it for her so she can have one out there. I haven't mentioned this to her and she has no idea it is coming.
Go for it if you think you can make it work. You only live once. Better to find out then to spend the rest of your life wishing you had given it a chance.
