They're considered "non-exempted workers," which means they can work for $0 if they want to. Somehow I doubt that standing in front of the Federal Building, holding a gun, and scowling at brown people is the sort of thing those people will do for free.
When you shut down the government, you give up control. The Republipigs don't get that. Yet.

Agreed. Hopefully with less funding and no pay they will be less motivated to kidnap people and ship them to third party countries without anything even resembling due process. My fear however is that these swine are motivated by more than the paycheck and will do it for their lust of power and control. Motivated by their hatred for anyone they see as "less than".

It might depend on where they're operating. In Tay-ucks-ass, people will line up to kiss their feet. But here in Portland, they and the policies they're trying to enforce are greatly unpopular. And we're one of the most tolerant cities (and states) in the nation, so race hatred doesn't play well here.
Trump has miscalculated with his little retribution war on Oregon. The Republipigs would never carry this state in a Presidential election, but there are Congressional districts that are competitive. People there might look at this latest fascist Trump shit and decide that voting MAGA isn't such a hot idea after all.
