The Senate, ultimately, will protect him. It's even possible that Moscow Mitch would refuse to hold an impeachment hearing even if the House voted for it. But that might wind up costing him votes in Dumbtucky. He'd be smart to let the Senate Republicans collectively fall on their swords for Trump.
The real value of impeachment will be access to all the info Trump's been hiding and the identification of all the Republiholes in Congress who are willing to go on the record as loyal Trump lackeys. Then, those vermin can be swept out of office in 2020.
I am not so sure. It is awfully hard to spin extortion, bribery, conversion of government funds to personal use and an explicit quid pro quo.
I think Republicans in the Senate will have a tough choice. Remove Trump and anger 30% of the voters that are rabid Trump supporters that are willing to overlook any and all malfeasances Trump committed. (They would keep their base but still get spanked by the voters in 2020.) Or keep him in office and anger the other 70% of voters which will get them slaughtered instead of spanked.
Keeping him makes it kind of hard to get any lucrative private-sector job if you are known for voting to keep a corrupt criminal in the White House. There are only so many Fox News commentator jobs out there.
I think removal from office is becoming a real possibility.
Its not yet known how far the net will go on impeachment - if its going to only focus on the Ukraine stuff...or the Mueller and tax stuff too.
But Kevin is right - Trump is not getting kicked out. But his tax records, hidden communications, and executive privlege abuses will be overriden and the truth will come to the fore. And AMerica should see. And Joni Ernst, Susan COllins, and Thom Tillis should have to reconcile their support for the president on these issues in their election cycle.

Did you even read the memo that was released today? You know the one with all the proof you are demanding. Keep in mind that wasn't even the transcript that was promised. It was a summary rather than a transcript and it was carefully edited by Trump's staff. If that turd is the best spin they could put on Trump's conduct, I can't wait to see what is actually in the transcript and what is in the Whistleblower report.
That proof is already extant and visible, but more is coming. That is not to say that Trumpers won't make up excuses no matter what evidence comes up.
Pelosi has apparently directed the impeachment committee to focus exclusively on Trump's Ukraine crimes and not his crimes detailed in the Mueller report.
I really hope that this winds up in the Senate and that all the vulnerable Republihole senators go on the record as excusing Trump's conduct--and then they'll get blasted out of office in 2020. I think that even then, democracy and decency retaking the Senate is a long shot. But it will provide progress toward repairing our country from Republican abuses.
