So now Trump may end up sharing a cell with...Phil Ruffin?

In 2016, when Trump needed money for his campaign, the Trump International  Hotel, owned by Trump and Phil Ruffin, paid a shell company $20 million for some apparently non-existent services. And then it declared that payment as a business expense. The funds may have gone to the Trump campaign, but there's no proof yet.

So for those keeping score at home:

Declaring the funds as a business expense was probably illegal.

If the funds went to the Trump campaign, it was an illegal campaign donation.

This won't even be a blip on the radar, given Trump's decades-long history of fraud, corruption, and theft. Not to mention tax evasion.

But then, tax evasion is how they finally got Al Capone, even though he committed hundreds of other felonies. So mabye something that's small but carries a punishment with real teeth will get Trump in the end. His big, fat orange end.

People asked how Trump could bankrupt multiple casinos. Now maybe we know.

Well, when your business model is essentially "Borrow, borrow, borrow, don't pay your bills, and run away," you're going to fail eventually.

I'm sure his very base "base" still think he's a bigly financial genius.

I'm sure crooked Kevin will correct my spelling

'It's his money.' Billionaire Phil Ruffin Denies payment to Trump was unusual

Poor old DonDiego supposes this will end up just another tempest-in-a-teapot once the hollering and moaning ceases.

Well first of all, “If we had had confidence that the president clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so.” And Trump refuses to release the unredacted version of the report. And then there's obstruction of justice, for which a President cannot be indicted until he leaves office.

But what you are really saying is that the New York Times invented these items on Trump's taxes. Fat chance of that.

Yeah, because, what's a little bitty $20 million fraud in the grand Trumpian scheme of things?
