"Woke"is not why he is suspending his effort - he realizes that President Trump will be the Republican candidate and the next President. Look for DeSantis in 2028 when this "woke" garbage will just be a bad memory.

I'm sure he had people on his staff that could have checked that in advance, but I'm thinking they just hate him.

You were making a false equivalence argument. Biden needs to be reminded of the names of some of the hundreds of people he encounters every day. Any mistakes he makes are honest ones. DeSantis, on the other hand, made up a bogus quotation that he said was from Winston Churchill and put it in his WAAH WAAH speech. In other words, he was deliberately lying.

Apparently, you don't. Let's take a look at the two circumstances.
I'm sure in President Biden's case, one of his staff members prepped him with the name and picture of a member of the House and then prayed that Biden would not screw it up. But Biden did, which happens, because there are 435 of them.
On the other hand, I am sure the text of DeSantis's surrender speech went through the hands of several of his staff members, all of whom know that misattributed quotes are a thing, and didn't bother taking 10 seconds to check with the google. And DeSantis ended up attributing a line from a Budweiser advertisement to Winston Churchill.
His staff couldn't be that incompetent, could they? Yeah, they hate him.
