You are correct the $50t includes ss.
The unfunded liability grows every year & the year the trust funds run out keeps moving up. Within a few years medicare/ss/interest expense will consume 100% of the revenue; a point that has been made repeatedly & PJ's response is Trumps fault. If only life was that simple.
Entitlement expenses are now 77% of federal expenditures & growing.
Democrats passed a bill to reconcile Social Security last month. And the Senate wont touch it....or offer a counter proposal. I left lots of space below for you to object.
Republicans created a 75 trillion dollar unfunded liability in the general deficit which Tom cant bring himself to recognize. He's too busy blaming the unfunded Medicare Part D program and "name your own price" policy on the party that did not implement it.
If you think that AOC and many other Democrats don't want government ownership of business, then you have your head in the sand. Next you'll tell us that Muslims won't demand Sharia Law once they gain sufficient population critical mass, even though their record proves that they always do.
"Republicans created a 75 trillion dollar unfunded liability in the general deficit"
You don't really understand this. The $75 trillion is not part of the general deficit, nor is Medicare part D the reason. PJ talks about a SS fix but no action has been taken on the Medicare deficit, which is a significant part of the unfunded deficit.
Both parties are guilty on this due to their inaction
I hate the deficit. Cut giveaways, and we're fine. I'll clarify something that confusing to Liberals. A giveaway is not less taxation. I giveaway is giving something for nothing that Libs can't do enough of.

Um...yes it is the general deficit. I'm using the same exact math you are. Our general deficit is 1 trillion a year ...extended for 75 years is 75 trillion. Its not difficult. Normally I dont measure things in terms of 7 decades but that was the metric you created on this thread. And you dont seem to have a problem with it. You're too busy blaming Democrats for the Medicare deficit largely created by Republicans.
Democrats put a bill fourth to reconcile SOcial Security. Democrats passed Obamacare which reduced the general deficit and reeled in 10's of billions in Medicare Fraud. And the only administrations in your adult lifetime to lower deficits in their reign where the ones you did not vote for.
So spare me the fiscal lectures.

Yeah, but see here's the problem: Math does not agree with you.
Giving someone $20 or forgiving them $20 of debt is the same exact transaction to both party's bottom line.
But for some reason it makes you feel better to have it in the context of the latter.
I honestly dont care what you want to call the trillion dollar deficit. But it was caused by the Republican tax cut. Use whatever term makes you sleep better at night. But its still a trillion dollar deficit .... and it wasn't caused by a liberal giveaway of free shit. It was caused by telling corporations and wealthy people they dont need to pay for the security, infrastructure, and democratic institutions provided in the country they do business.

PJ proves my point that Liberals believe that all money earned is not the property of the earner, but instead it's the property of the government.
