Someone's got to pay for the free shit

Rather than pay $15hr, retailers, fast food & QSRs are going to self serve kiosks.

Less employees.

You mean "fewer" employees.

And given Trump's bigly terrific bestest mostest employment numbers in the history of the galaxy, those folks who take orders are obviously doing other jobs.

There are lots of places where people are getting paid $15/hr for such jobs, and their economies are doing fine. What all the conservitards fail to take into account is that the local economy does much better when people have more money to spend. That Seattle McDonalds might have to pay more in wages, but its business is better because the people who work at WalMart down the street now have money to buy lunch. And, the WalMart does better because the McDonalds employees can now buy stuff. See: economic multiplier effect.

It also should be pointed out that if the federal minimum wage had been adjusted for inflation over the last three decades, it would already be $15 now. So those no-good pinko commie liberal snowflake states that are enacting a $15 minimum wage are just making up for failures by the federal government to compensate for the fact that the minimum wage has been dropping for thirty years in terms of actual spending power.

Automation is not a new concept, is it?  UNless you're trying to defend people making impoverished wages.

All those retailers that were going to have to raise prices didn't.    And that really makes the right mad, doesn't it?

Well, they want to see all those liberal cities collapse and die, as in their twisted minds, that would "validate" their evil ideas. Their utopia is a permanently downtrodden lower class that has to continually struggle to survive and a tiny fabulousy wealthy elite that runs everything--no semblance of democracy.

Paying working people a halfway decent wage would obviously inhibit the attainment of that shining goal.

What blows my mind is that the very people who would be completely ass-fucked by our descent into totalitarianism are the ones encouraging that descent most fervently. The MAGA morons are cheering for their own demise.

This is part of a pattern in Seattle.  I wonder why?

No, it's not part of a "pattern." Restaurants close down all the time, in any city, under any economic circumstances. And if an owner wants to blame higher minimum wage for that, fine, but that's not necessarily the real reason; it could have been bad management and/or poor decisions.

$15 an hour is barely enough to survive in Seattle and other affluent urban areas. If a restaurant owner can't manage to pay his employees enough to live on, maybe he should find another line of work. The vast majority of restaurants in Seattle are coping with the increased costs. There's no reason why they can't increase menu prices to make up for it if they want. Customers will understand the reason why.

There was endless whining from conservatives when the $15 minimum wage was enacted and they predicted that the city's economy would collapse and the earth would spiral into the sun. Now, we have a story about ONE restaurant that is closing--and not necessarily actually because of labor costs. Gee, I guess Sean Hannity was right!

Sometimes, I think you conservatives look for the most unreliable source you can find when posting things here. The guy that wrote that article is a conservative local AM Radio opinion commentator. In other words, he is a bargain-basement Rush Limbaugh.

Jason Rantz is Seattle’s fresh, contemporary conservative voice. Young and urban, passionate and bold, Rantz is outnumbered by the Progressive chorus, yet refuses to ignore the conservative principles at the core of America’s greatness. Prolific on-air and online, Rantz knows he’s outnumbered in Seattle, but he’s never shy to be outspoken about it.

The first tip-off that your article wasn't credible should have been the name this guy chose for his radio career. If you actually read that article, his source was a guy that founded a Facebook group called Full Service Workers Alliance of Seattle.  That should have been your second tip-off this article wasn't credible. It is a group that bills itself a worker's alliance yet its mission is to advocate for a lower minimum wage and it is membership is primarily made up of business owners. They can't even name their group in an honest way.  The third tip-off that your article wasn't credible should have been that it only presented anecdotal evidence.

But conservatives will believe any stupid shit that supports their asinine, evil views, right? They deny incontrovertible facts that they don't want to hear (like Trump's treason), while looking under rocks for conspiracy theories that they think would be fun if they were true.

You mentioned some simple rules that a reasonable person can use to determine if a source is credible. If Trumpers used those rules, they'd discover that something like 98% of the stuff that the conservative media feeds them is complete crap.

Great news, Boilerman!  More free shit !

The new spending bill just passed this week will be removing two more payment mechanisms from Obamacare.   The "Cadilac Tax" on premium insurance plans and also the Medical Device tax are officially no more.

So we are officially left with all of the spending incurred by Obamacare but with 2 fewer of its payment mechanisms in place.....in addition to the repeal of the individual mandate.

The "Repeal and Replace" effort of Obamacare has resulted in keeping Obamacare but not paying for it.

FOX News crowd, aren't ya glad you voted for the Atlantic City Casino guy?

The repeal of the Obamacare taxes were initiated by the democrats in the House.
