The midterms are only three months away. You would expect the RepubliQ to be in full bloviation mode, telling us how a) they're going to magically fix inflation AND b) that will happen on the very day we award them control of the House and the Senate. But I haven't heard much of that. Certainly, I haven't heard any specifics--any policies or actions that the RepubliQ plan to enact. Their message has been much more about culture wars--abortion, race, etc.--than the economy.
Could it be that they realize that there's not all that much that the US can do about the GLOBAL inflation problem and they shouldn't make promises they can't keep? Could it be that they realize that inflation is supposed to persist for a year or more, which means that it will be made obvious that who controls the House and Senate doesn't matter?
Now, of course, maybe they feel they don't really have to spread that message--maybe they feel it's strongly implied. And in the American consciousness, there's always the feeling of "things am bad now" = "vote da bums out." The party not in power always benefits when times are bad. Thus, the current RepubliQ opposition to ANY measures that might ease the people's pain, even a little bit. That's not what they want.
So if and when the RepubliQ tells you they want to make things all better, don't believe it. They want just the opposite: they want you to suffer, so that you'll check all those "R" boxes on your ballot.
