Supreme Court issues ruling on citizenship case

In a 6-3 decision the Supreme Court reminds Trump that the executive branch lacks the constitutional authority to define constitutional terms. 

Thomas, Alito, and Gorsuch descented. 

The ruling was a foregone conclusion. While SCOTUS is now nothing but a Trump tool, they do balk at allowing the Turd to just blithely ignore the Constitution. They give him immense latitude--such as in their recent ruling that he has the power to fire federal regulators without cause, at will--but they appear to draw the line at allowing him to just cancel out the Constitution. Well, usually, they do. Mostly.

So the significance of this ruling is not the ruling itself, but the delineation of how far SCOTUS will go to serve and appease Trump. They apparently feel that they have to maintain the facade of being an independent body and branch of government--which of course, they are not. Not any longer.

The three justices who dissented should be dragged out of the building and castrated on live pay-per-view TV. They had absolutely NO justification to shit on the Constitution. I get the feeling that they were seizing the opportunity to present their Trump-lackey bona fides while feeling secure that their dissents weren't going to affect the ruling. The decision should of course have been 9-0. Can the Chief Executive violate his oath and ignore the Constitution? No, of course not!

Trump's continual quest to do an end-around to evade the Constitution, to not simply execute existing laws, which is his job, but to make new ones, which is not, should be grounds for impeachment. He continually oversteps his authority, in homage to his oft-repeated statement that "I can do anything I want." SCOTUS just told him, in a quavering, hushed voice, "We're sorry, master, but perhaps not anything."

Tomorrow, he'll announce that people who didn't vote for him will have their citizenship canceled, and SCOTUS will have to decide whether that's a wee bit too far.

They also ruled there are no longer any limits on campaign contributions.   

Its not like there really were anyway - people just had to set up PAC's and pretend they werent coordinating with the candidate.   Now Elon can just write a check for a million dollars to JD Vance's presidential bid.  

Because accourding to the SUpreme Court - sewer money from special interest groups bribing politicians is "free speech".     

That's the other side of the delineation I was referring to. That decision shows that SCOTUS will do anything that the Turd orders them to do as long as it doesn't directly contradict the Constitution. Since campaign contributions aren't mentioned in that document--sure, Trumpy-poo, their master, can do what he wants.

This will help solidify America's status as an oligarchy run by the rich, masquerading as a democracy (and doing a pretty piss-poor job of that).

The constitutional wording re: this issue was / is straightforward. They got this decision right.

Then one has to wonder what rationalization the three assholes who ruled against the Constitution used. I'd track down their dissenting opinion(s), but I wouldn't be able to read them without throwing up. Three Supreme Court justices violating their oath and their duty, voting to nullify the Constitution.

Sickening.
