Sympathy for Farmers?

Another good one !    Farmer dipshit voted for the candidate who vowed to deport 10 million immigrants.

Now farmer dipshit cant find any immigrant workers.     Dont ya just feel bad for Farmer Dipshit ?

Almost.

How many of them, though, are telling themselves, "Gee, maybe I shouldn't have voted for Trump"? One? Two? And how many are blaming their woes on Biden or a LIBBURUL KUNSPEERISSY? Several thousand?

I ask this because it seems like the MAGA cult is still fully in love with its fat, dying orange leader, with very little dissent being expressed so far. Maybe in a few months, when things have REALLY gone to shit...?

The reason is farming is not big city.  They don't get the news from the CNNs in media.  They live in the real world, and don;t jump ship because of a headline.  They don't have time for all of the facebook nonsense.  They have good values and take the good with the bad

But...overwhelmingly, they voted for Trump. Aside from that being stupid and evil, in their case, it's self-destructive.

They also have 3 times the suicide rate of the general population, and in my state, cuts in federal funding by Trump have eliminated a rural mental health outreach program. It wasn't for the big city folks; we have plenty of resources, it was for the rural areas.

Elections have consequences.

By the way, most people I know rarely use Facebook anymore, including my adult children. The only person I come into contact with who seems to be a diehard Facebook user is MAGA Dave Miller, right on this very forum. So, I've concluded it now appeals mostly to small thinkers who are frantically trying to feel good about themselves by finding only information that reinforces their small world views.

I grew up in a farm community and still live in the radius. 90% of them are MAGAs and they spend a ton of time on Facebook and they watch 🦊 News. I don't know how much you know about crop farming but there is a hell of a lot of downtime with that. Once the crops are harvested there isn't much to do until planting season.

If you hit up the local dinners groups of them are usually holding court for 2-3 hours in the late morning. I'd say 80% of their loud conversations are about politics usually the subject is about whatever the conservative media is talking about.

Nothing is odder than seeing 70 year old men complain about trans people making kids use cat boxes in school. Never mind that never happened and never mind these folks have never encountered a trans person in real life. The saw it on FB so it must be true.

Another of my favorites is when they bitch and moan about "illegals" destroying the country when they have crews of illegals harvesting their crops.

It amuses me greatly hearing them complain about how bad things are right now and how they might go broke.

Unfortunately, the Republicans are working hard to bail them out of the consequences of their bad business decisions.

They sure bemoaned student loan forgiveness but now they have their hand out and are demanding funding from the government which is rather pathetic.

Trust me it is still big in rural communities.

In our area farmers do not use migrant workers.  They are not needed for Wheat, corn soybeans, milo, oats, sadan and hay or the dairy farms or feedlots.  I will admit that there are a lot in the slaugter houses and the roofing companies.

I like the fact that farmers interact with others in the comunity.  If they want to start the day at 6 and take a 3 hour lunch break and work until 7 when they are not harvesting or planting then good for them.  It gets pretty hot out there.
