Gorecki's Symphony No. 3 was written in 1989, on the 50th anniversary of the Nazi invasion of Poland. Recent events made me think of it--the horrible deaths in Israel and the horrible deaths in Gaza that are coming. Nothing but death and sorrow, without end. They'll still be doing this shit in the Middle East in the year 4023.

This is one of the many performances available on YouTube, but I like the fact that it's an actual video, and the performance is excellent. The orchestra is Austrian youth.
If you want to get the message of the symphony without listening to the whole thing, play the first eleven minutes, before the choral part begins--that part is beautiful, but a little hard to understand, since it's sung in Polish.
This piece goes way past politics, war, and all that garbage. It's mothers crying over their dead children. Maybe there's a future where this shit stops happening? I wish I could see it.
