It isn't open to the public yet. I have htaccess set-up to block search engines right now. I'd like to launch with 50 articles. I have 10 right now including unpublished ones. 

Keep in mind the menus aren't finished yet and you will likely encounter typos as I haven't done proper proofreading. Constructive criticism and suggestions are welcome. 

If anybody frequents this part of the world and would like to write a couple of posts or reviews, I'd love to hear from you. You would get a link back in your bio on the site. 

I'd be very, very careful with this. A couple of years ago, I started a blog and it was buried in autobot posts from some outfit trying to sell Ugg boots, of all things--that disabled the blog and the website supporting it. Also, when I had my LVA blog, a major reason why I discontinued it was that many people managed to track down my private email and sent all sorts of crap to it--some of it was really deranged.

Insofar as hits from search engines are concerned, you'll initially be ranked high in searches because of the site's novelty, but you'll sink fast unless you get tens of thousands of hits for some reason. Google "offers" website owners and bloggers the opportunity to pay them to artificially inflate their ranking, but you don't want to go there.

I employ a few anti-spam measures.

1. New comments have to be approved before they show up.  This takes care of 90% of the problems. 

2. I have fail2ban installed. That takes care of the other 10%. (keeps the spammers from spawning multiple bot accounts on the same ip.)

3. I always have the latest update of WP and all my plugins running. I delete plugins I am not using. 

4. I use a contact form, so people can't see my email address when they want to contact me. I also made sure that the contact page isn't indexed in the search engines.
