Tariff Man Strikes Again

Well now, thats just hurtful, Bob !    Its a good thing I dont cry to the caferteria monitor  like our  conservatives do whenever their feelings get hurt.

Mexico is not going to pay the tariffs.   You are.  So when you pay an extra $1500 for your next new car you can take pride in the fact that is  somehow punishing refugees from El Salvador.   Order two of those t-shirts.

PJ, is your position that Mexican companies won't pay the tariffs.  Well I import and sell about $100,000 annually of a surfactant for sale in Indianapolis.  I, and my customer, will be moving this business to a company from Ohio soon as the tafiff hit.  Tariffs suck, but I love that Trump is inflicting pain on Mexico for allowing the steady steam of illegals to hit our border.  Short term pain for long term gain.  Liberals have the attention span of a unusually dumb insect.

101 class on how tariffs work....and who pays them

Probably written by some dumb insect.    But in any event, Its interesting to note your continued embrace of socialism, Boilerman.

PJ, where in the world do you get Socialism out of this?

I think PJ is using the simplistic definition of socialism that was used around here for as long as I have been here (2002ish).  Namely, any redistribution of income would be socialism. Since a tariff takes money from consumers and redistributes it to other government expenditures including corporate welfare, government employee's salaries and so on it qualifies as socialism using the longstanding board definition.

Using a more technical definition than has previously been used on this board, Trump's tariffs coupled with his subsidies to pay people to produce perishable products there isn't sufficient demand for is more akin to the planned economic systems utilized by communist nations than it is socialism. There is a reason Trump's besties are Kim and Putin.

Mark, Trumps long term goal is not tariffs, but instead equal tariffs or zero tariffs between China and the United States.  Asking China nicely to equalize tariffs has proven for decades to be futile.  Their intellectual property theft is also a problem that has long been ignored by both parties.  The only leverage is playing the hardball that Trump is imposing.  It'll take time and it'll work.

Gotta ask you a question Mark, appreciate your help on this one.....are you suggesting that President Trump's political stances are more in line with Kim and Putin than America's socialist democrats?  Amazing to me that leftists here try to push the President into alignment with hero's of the left.  Thanks for your helping me on this one.

PJ and Mark are both short sighted. Most of their negative postings are knee-JERK responses about issues that have been long standing and that none of the previous DemocRat administrations would address, except with lip service while running for office.

I am glad to answer this question. Yes, that is exactly what I am suggesting.

Let's see:

1.  Trump, Kim, and Putin all believe they should be President for life.

2.  Trump, Kim, and Putin believe in an all-powerful executive. In other words, the other branches of government have no authority over them and are simply there to serve them. They can ignore laws, budgets or lawful subpoenas issued by the legislative branch and they don't have to abide by judicial orders issued by the judicial branch if they don't agree with them.

3.  Trump, Kim, and Putin all believe their political opponents or simply people that said something they took as offensive about them should be "locked up."

4.  Trump, Kim, and Putin are authoritarian nationalists.

5. Trump, Kim, and Putin often peddle conspiracy theories about their political opponents, other countries, and or other ethnic/minority groups to whip their supporters into a frenzy.

5.  Trump, Kim, and Putin believe that a free press is the "enemy of the people" and have massive propaganda machines designed to misinform people.

6.  Trump, Kim, and Putin believe that government exists to personally enrich them and/or their political allies.

7.  Trump, Kim, and Putin believe that the military is there to serve them first and their nation later.

8.  Trump, Kim, and Putin believe that government officials are there to serve and advocate for them first and their nation later.

9.  Trump, Kim, and Putin have legislative bodies that are simply rubber stamps.

10.   Trump, Kim, and Putin often disclaim past statements or acts even though there is audio or video recordings and or transcripts of them saying and/or doing such things.

11.  Trump, Kim, and Putin all believe in militarized borders.

12.  Trump, Kim, and Putin don't believe in fair elections. They utilize gerrymandering, voter purges and/or erect barriers to vote that ensure they and their political allies remain in power.

13.  Trump, Kim, and Putin often exaggerate or altogether makeup stories about past achievements, family history, negotiating acumen and believe they are the most stable genius their country has ever seen.

I have never seen Bernie Sanders or AOC suggest stances like that.

Trump is Mark's "boogie man". Some of that crap he wrote is so far away from the truth that it's funny! Liberalism truly is a mental disorder...

CBP announced Thursday night that the apprehension of 1,036 illegal immigrants had occurred after 4:00 a.m. Wednesday. The group was taken into custody for processing and given initial medical screenings after crossing the Rio Grande into the U.S from Mexico.

That was all people in one group. One group! The invasion escalates! This MUST stop!
