The US produces 10.6m cars annually. The 17,000 cars in question suburu produces is 0.02% of US production.

Of course, this is his habit. Every awful thing his orange hero does, he justifies and/or tries to minimize. "The republic will survive" is an example of that stupidity.
The people who work at that Subaru plant, AND THOSE BUSINESSES THAT DEPEND ON IT, won't be consoled by that "0.02%" figure, any more than stupid Tom would be consoled by being one of the 0.003% of US drivers killed in an accident.
