Tarriffs coming?

I'm glad you're independently wealthy and can easily pay for the staggering costs of living, but you're clearly in the top 1% and the rest of the citizens are massively and terribly impacted by the soaring costs of energy, food and rent due to horrific monetary policies and debt incurred by this administration.

Top 1%? Nope, I would say middle class, our income has increased, our expenses are low, and I don't find the cost of living staggering in the least.

I'm more than happy to help out the less fortunate, but I do grow weary of people whining about how much everything costs and not do anything to improve their situation but vote for someone that they want to fix it for them. Remember when the GOP was run by the RINO's? They would always say, "if you don't like your situation, pull yourself up by your bootstraps and do something about it". MAGA wants the government to fix it for them.

It's too bad you're suffering, maybe work harder and make more money?

What is worse is he is so damn ignorant.  He constantly complains about prices but votes for the guy whose econmic policies raise prices.

Maybe it is his lack of intellectual horsepower that is holding him back 🤔

I honestly dont know how much the tarriff talk is fodder vs actual.    If we are seriously about to embark on a global trade war its probably a good time to stock up on those big ticket purchases now.

I'm buying a new gaming PC today ...and thats after a big shopping trip at Kohl's to update my wardrobe.    I bought a few extra of everything.   I now have a 5 year supply of socks, boxers, and jeans.   I hope I dont put on weight and outgrow them.    =)

I really need to upgrade my TV too...that might be a December purchase.   Lets see what the Black Friday deals look like.

I wish all good luck as we enter this new era.   May you live in interesting times.

My position on China has evolved quite a bit over the last ten years. At this point, I think most tarrifs on Chinese products are counter-productive and harm American more than China.

This week the EPA increased taxes on methane emissions.

Ca raised their gas tax

6 days ago · Advertisement. California Air Resources Board staffers estimated last year that the new rules could raise the price of a gallon of gas by as much as 47 cents next year

https://www.latimes.com/environment/story/2024-11-08/gas-prices-could-rise-after-vote-by-california-regulators

NY instituted a congestion pricing tax.

At $9 per entry, this will cost commuters an additional  $2k per year.

Interesting that the democrats announced this after the election.  If they announced this earlier the losses would have been worse.

All these taxes will increase costs to the consumers.  Apparently democrats think these costs are good but are having fits over POSSIBLE tariff increases.

Good to hear you don't support the tariffs, I agree with that position.

I wonder if China would have any response to US tariffs? What did they do last time?

Trump Tariff Aid To Farmers Cost More Than U.S. Nuclear Forces

"After a series of tariff increases on Chinese imports, the government of China retaliated against U.S. exporters, as predicted by trade analysts outside of the administration. As a result, U.S. exports, particularly of agricultural goods, dropped significantly. “Losing the world’s most populous country as an export market has been a major blow to the [U.S.] agriculture industry,” reported the New York Times in August 2019. “Total American agricultural exports to China were $24 billion in 2014 and fell to $9.1 billion last year, according to the American Farm Bureau.” In 2018, U.S. farmers’ soybean exports to China declined by 75%, according to the U.S. International Trade Commission."

"Trump was open about the purpose of the payments. “I sometimes see where these horrible dishonest reporters will say that ‘oh jeez, the farmers are upset,’” he told attendees of an Illinois farmer show in August 2019. “Well, they can’t be too upset, because I gave them $12 billion and I gave them $16 billion this year. . . . I hope you like me even better than you did in ’16.”"

PROGRAM TAXPAYER COST
Trump Aid to Farmers $28 Billion
Department of State $26.3 Billion
