Supreme Court showdown tomorrow. Trump has lost every legal battle thus far to provide his tax returns to Congress. But what we've learned is a president can tie up the courts for almost his entire term before having to comply with constitutional checks and balances. And maybe not even then. We'll see what verdict comes out of the Kavanaugh court in the coming days.
Seeing Trump's international financial relationships and conflicts of interest is the purpose of the audit. But the bigger issue is whether or not our checks and balances system has any teeth to in today's environment.
(History lesson - Nixon took a similar fight to the courts to not comply with the COngressional subponea demanding he hand over the Watergate tapes. He lost by unanimous decision. But that was then. What do you suppose the over/under is Clarence Thomas will vote to ignore the Constituion?)
