Ted Cruz continues the Russian conspiracy theory about Ukraine

Its not just Trump in Putin's pocket

Lyin Ted is in there too !    (That turned out to be a good nickname for him.)

Sad to see people abandon our Intelligence institutions in favor of fairy tales brought to you by the Birth Certificate guy and the Russian State.    But thats where the Republican Party is now.

Party before country. That's why the system set up by the Founding Fathers is failing and is being so easily perverted by the Republicans. The Fathers couldn't imagine that so many people would be loyal to their faction and not their country. (Hamilton saw it coming, though, in "The Federalist Papers.")

We have tens of millions of fellow Americans who, rather than being outraged at Trump's treason, are still cheering for him. Not to mention, they voted for him in the first place even though it was horribly obvious that he was (and is) a fraud, a thief, a liar, a rapist, and an incompetent asshole. The Founding Fathers didn't imagine that so many people would follow a cheap demagogue like Trump.

I still support the mass sterilization of Republicans so that the next generation, at least, will be able to return to democracy. But unless Fox News somehow destroys Republican reproductive urges, I don't see how that will happen. All it really does is make them much more stupid, and for a few of them, it makes them grab their assault rifles and climb into their pickup trucks and go find some Mexicans, Muslims, or gay people.

Before everyone gets their panties in a wad, I'm pretty sure he was making a joke. (where have we heard that before).

Oh, I said that just to provoke the usual storm of personal attacks that comes from our Trumpers. I do in fact support the marginalization and eventually, the crushing of the Republican Party--but it will have to come about due to a societal realization of what evil, unpatriotic, unprincipled assholes they are, which is coming. They can't really be stopped from reproducing and then brainwashing their children, more's the pity.

However, their support for Trump has doomed them. Ten or twenty years from now, most people who voted for him won't even admit it, for fear of being laughed out of the room. There will still be hate rallies (even hosted by Trump himself, if he's still alive), but they'll be attended by twenty-three people, all of whom are drooling, the way they were before the Orange Orangutan came along. It'll be about as socially acceptable to be a Trumper as it is to be a pedophile.

I am, however, deadly serious about the connection between conservative propaganda and mass shootings. Many perpetrators of those horrific crimes were shown to be Trumpers and titillated by alt-right social media or attendance at a MAGA hate rally. Their targets were the groups that Trump and Trumpers have attacked. The Republican Party should be stigmatized and vilified for these deaths that it has caused, if for no other reason.

PJ, sorry to hijack the thread. Ted Cruz is a sorry sack of shit who will probably not survive the next challenge--he barely survived Beto. He's a pretty unique politician in that he's loathed by both sides. I'm not surprised that he's climbed aboard the conspiracy theory bandwagon, in a desperate attempt to make himself popular with the "base." Look at how many of our resident Trumpers have lapped that shit up as well.

From Kevin Lewis: "I still support the mass sterilization of Republicans so that the next generation, at least, will be able to return to democracy."

Kevin certifies his alignment with Hitler and the Nazi regime.

I didn't know there is a movement afoot to accomplish this.

Perhaps Kevin Lewis is hoping to become the Leader of this exercise in extermination.

Conservatives - those who favor a more limited Government, as opposed to an ever-more-powerful and intrusive one - would oppose such a "Final Solution" against any political group.

I think Don's view of the modern conservative being about limited government is as out of touch as Joe Biden's view that he can work with them.  Spending Billions of dollars to build a wall that can be defeated with a $100 power tool in 30 minutes is not something a more limited government would do. Seizing land from landowners with little notice to build that wall is not the action of people that advocate for a more limited government.

Spending billions of dollars and hiring 15,000 people to create an entirely new branch of the military, space force, is not something that someone that favors a more limited government would support.

Rigging elections through bribery and other corrupt means to maintain power aren't the actions of people that want a more limited government. Indeed it is the polar opposite.  It is the action of people that simply don't care about democracy, the republic or the rule of law. It is the expression of a desire to have an all-controlling authoritarian leader that is above any law. A leader that doesn't have to comply with lawful subpoenas, release government records that belong to the people and one that thinks public servants on the public payroll can simply ignore orders and requests from the other two branches of government. A leader that believes it is perfectly legal to funnel government funds to the businesses he owns.  A leader that is constantly insisting that the free press is the enemy of the people. A leader that orders the National Weather Service to modify a hurricane forecast to comport to his personal seat of the pants view of what the weather will do.

As I said, I only said that to provoke the usual twisted-panties attacks from our Trumpers. On cue, and on schedule.

I oppose Naziism and Trumpism, which are essentially the same things.

I said that I was kidding, just hoping to provoke the usual storm of idiot attacks from our usual idiots. Thank you for certifying yourself as a member of that group.

The standard meme that conservatives favor more limited government is utterly false. They favor limiting things they don't like, such as social services, but expanding things they like, such as military spending. Their ultimate utopia is a fascist military dictatorship where citizens suffer and die and are eliminated if they complain, and the rich hold absolute, immutable power.

What's so sad is that so many rank-and-file conservatives support this vision, which if fulfilled, would turn our country into a living hell.

I also utterly disagree with the posit that conservatives would oppose the obliteration of a given ethnic group. If Trump said he wanted such a thing, they would enthusiastically cheer for it. Remember the hate rally where Trump laughed about shooting people on the other side of the Mexican border and everyone cheered?
