Thank God I live in Oregon

She did slaughter him. It turned out not to be enough.

Any decent, rational person observing Trump's performance that day would have known not to vote for him--regardless of ideology. Trouble is, we have a shortage of decent and rational people.

Really, Jerry, when you saw the debate, what did you think that Trump had done to his chances?

And yes, no matter how badly Trump may have performed, he was still up against a WOOMUN. It's like starting a football game with a two-touchdown lead, here in AMURRICA.

And your dumb party ran her anyway.  The party of the stupid.

There wasn't a choice as long as Biden insisted on hanging around, and since he was finally persuaded long after the Dem convention nominated him, there wasn't any process in place to put anyone up there other than Harris.

The dumb part was not shoving Biden aside. Granted, he really didn't start to crumble until fairly recently, but I do recall him saying that he was going to be a one-term President. Now, granted, getting the mechanism to replace him going too soon would have undermined policies like the Infrastructure Act, but he should have announced his exit at the end of 2023, giving his party a whole year to prepare.

I also think they relaxed when they saw that Trump would be their opponent, especially given all the criminal cases against him. It looked like an impending win by default.

It's too bad. Mayor Pete, among others, would have won in a walk. The next Dem candidate won't be a WOOMUN. Neither will the next seventeen.

So they blew it you are saying.  We agree on that.

Didn't start crumbling until fairly recently?  Hahah, he was running his first campaign from the basement because he couldn't coherently put two sentences together.

And shoving aside...nice 'selection' process your betters have.  You do love being told who to vote for.

Mayor Pete?  Your party seriously has the weakest links.

Kevin's a salad eater.

So just to summarize:

Your party propped up Joe as a great and competent President.

Then did a quick about-face after the DNC - that seems pretty smart.

And then had to annoint Kamala as the candidate.

This is the party you tell us is so smart?!?!

Rachel Levine, Sam Brinton.... some of the finest appointees by Biden.  Surely you liberals would love them to represent your party.

Jerry, putting words in people's mouths and then arguing against those words is a pretty feeble tactic. I never said that the Dems' strategy was smart. I said that circumstances pushed them iinto a corner. As long as Biden insisted that he was fit for office, they had to support him. And when he finally stepped aside, Kamala was pretty much the only option.

The only good thing about that is that the Dems learned once and for all to not nominate a WOOMUN. Maybe fifty years from now. Not yet.
