The employee comments make me chuckle. As if money grows on trees, and that a company can pay salaries after losing money month after month after month. There must be some "magic money" that only the snowflakes understand.

Actually, Boiler, if you understood business at all--and it's evident that you don't--you'd know that a smart business will keep its employees around even when profits fall. The alternative--dumping everyone overboard--just makes sure that the business will never be able to recover. You can't just hire new staff, untrained, off the street and expect that to work. Employees are an asset, and assets are worth preserving.

The oil companies had doubled their profits!!! And they have prioritized returning equity to their stockholders over getting that stuff out of the ground.
