Kevin, lots of people voted for Hitler. They were sick of career politicians, liked the idea of a national scapegoat and of the whole belief-over-fact thing.

True, but would they have voted for him again four years later--or eight years later, like OUR gaggle of idiots has done and will do?
Also, Germany was really up shit creek in 1933, so ANY change looked good to them. The US in 2016 was doing very well and there were no significant domestic crises. Voting for the Orange Turd was a foolish choice and still, to many people including myself, an inexplicable one.
I attribute it to a fundamental flaw in the American psyche. Of course, populist autocrats are getting their asses elected all over the world, so maybe people just want to be ruled rather than ruling themselves.
