Thousands Tune in Live to Watch Trump’s Ultimate Humiliation

I was the one that posted cautiously optimistic.....not Candy.  It was a generalization in regards to Republican thinking, especially those that voted for Trump. There were plenty of Republican voters that aren't MAGA that were hoping that Trump would do a good job.

Might want to apologize to Candy, and throw that shade on me.

Not all conservatives or Republicans are MAGA.  Trump won by default because the Harris/Walz ticket the Dem's pushed after Biden dropped out was pretty much doomed from the jump.

I wouldn't say that the Dem ticket was weak, so much as a) it was rushed...ridiculously so; b) Harris, being black and a woman, was automatically not voted for by 10% of the population, who would have chosen Hitler over a black woman.

Consider that Trump was caught flogging the "eating cats" lie, and Harris destroyed him during their debate...but that didn't matter. Also, MAGA quite successfully sold the "Bidenflation" crap.

That Trump won the first time shows that there are a LOT of really dumb Americans. That he won a second time shows that those dumb Americans can't learn anythng.

Anybody...ANYBODY...who had observed Trump fucking up during his first term (half a million "extra" covid deaths), knew about his dozens of criminal convictions, saw his awful behavior, knew about his massive and constant theft and grift, and realistically hoped he would do a good job...the best you can say about them is that they were hopelessly naive.

That's why I think the cult members who voted for him a second time because they hoped he would be a halfway decent President were a tiny minority...because only an utter fool would think that he'd do a decent job. What we got was exactly what we expected.

What percentage of conservatives aren't MAGA? 2 percent? 3 percent? Republicans? 0.1 percent?

Yes, I saw that after the fact. I apologize Candy. Edso, I normally agree with you but not in this case.

Yes, not all Republicans are MAGAs but 90% of the non MAGAs still voted for Trump and if he were able to run again the same 90% of reasonable Republicans would vote for him despite his open corruption, using the presidency to enrich himself and his family, the destruction of the White House, the unprovoked wars, the horrific economic conditions and on and on. And it simply wouldn't matter which candidate the Democrats ran. They would think it is perfectly reasonable to vote for Trump over any democratic candidate.

Applying that same hypothetical I laid out above, these reasonable Republicans that voted for Trump are cult members too they just won't admit it.  They wouldn't hire a guy with Trump's qualifications to cut their yard. They wouldn't want a guy like Trump around their kids.

Maybe they aren't ready to drink the kool-Aid yet like David Miller, but they're standing around watching the MAGA republicans drinking the kool-aid nodding along and saying nothing.

There  seems to be this great assumption by folks on both the right and left  that once Trump can no longer run for President the Republican Party will return to its old values and policies. If this were the case, wouldn't that have happened after the 2020 election?

The sad fact is even when Trump is gone, the MAGA faction of the Republican Party will still control the primaries and as a consequence the bulk of Republican Party  candidates will be MAGAs trying to out MAGA each other.

I suspect the same 90% of reasonable Republicans will vote for the MAGA candidates in the general telling themselves this will all be over soon and the Republican Party will go back to normal in the next election.

Mark, I appreciate you apologizing to Candy, and totally understand and appreciate your take on this topic.

No apology was necessary, Mark.  I often 'paraphrase' what somebody else said; if I don't have it in front of me, I'm likely to get it wrong.  You weren't that far off anyway.  No worries.

Whats lost in all of this is the fact that we currently are in a war with Iran amidst rising inflation and a K-shaped economy.

And our president's top priorites are building a gold plated ballroom, resurficing the reflecting pool, putting his name on buildings, chasing political conspiracies, and hosting a cage match at the White House.

Remember when our resident MAGA pundits said Biden was out of touch because he spent the weekend in Delaware?     What line does Donny Bone-spurs have to cross before his priorities are considered out of touch by his base?

Remember stupid Tom crying, crying, crying every time Biden spent the weekend at the beach? Remember him not crying, not crying, not crying when his orange master always worked a twenty-hour week and was on a plane bound for Florida every Friday morning?

Our resident MAGA-holes will say that our opposition to them is political. It's not. It's because they're such raging hypocrites.

Thanks, PJ for this post.  I had no idea what a "K-shaped economy" is, so I looked it up.  I love learning something new (to me).

For anyone interested, this website explains it well:
