Poor old DonDiego would very much like to agree. Mr. Carson was a competitor for the Republican Party Presidential candidate in 2016, even ahead of Donald Trump in the primary-polls at times.
But things are not so simple.
Unfortunately many who are "jerking chains" and "dividing us" are, in fact fellow-Americans. Sad, but true.

Yeah, except the people dividing us aren't hiding behind any curtains; they're in plain sight, on Fox "News" and at the podium during hate rallies and deranged White House press briefings.
Ben Carson, this somewhat true statement notwithstanding, is, was, and has been a total fucking idiot. I would go and scrape up some of the appallingly stupid things he's said, but I'll just settle for a few:
"Prison makes straight people gay."
"Illegal immigrants caught voting should be stripped of their citizenship."
"Religion is needed to interpret science."
