Thus do I summarize the likely 2024 Presidential race in a nutshell.
The interesting question is how much each, respectively, really hurts. The fact of the matter is that for centuries now, the President has always set the tone and pointed the ship in a general direction (I know, mixed metaphor). But actual work and execution of policy? All he really does is sign stuff and shake hands with people.
So Trump was surrounded by servile, fawning handlers whose true mission was to thwart his worst impulses, and Biden is surrounded by loyalists who want to make sure he stays on message. Thus, Trump was able to work 20-hour weeks, and Biden is able to work negative 500-hour weeks--at least according to stupid Tommie-poo. But the country still functioned, even during the ghastly Trump un-Presidency.
It seems to me that people vastly overestimate the power of the President. He's not a monarch. Our government institutions have inertia. They're not easily moved. Thus, four years of Trump didn't fuck up America as much as it might have. And Biden is managing to get his programs in place, but only after severe weakening by the RepubliQ. It's literally business as usual out there--now as before, big corporations run everything and the common man is nothing but a disposable work unit.
So we could elect a used Kleenex as President, and it wouldn't really make any difference.
