You know how Republicans were never really serious about "family values?" They were never really serious about national security either.

That's why it is the Republican border crisis.
It's a "crisis," at least according to them...so they should embrace any opportunity to fix it, even partially or imperfectly...right? That's better than doing nothing...right?
There are indications that the American voting public--even some MAGA goobers--recognize this RepubliQ publicity stunt for what it is and are getting fed up. The only real consequence for the RepubliQ is that some of the shakier members of the Cuckoo Caucus may lose their reelection bids. But they can't afford to let any seats slip away.
Wouldn't it be great if the RepubliQ lost their grip on Congress, and we could get some stuff done for once?
It's a terrible piece of legislation.
Trump used existing laws to get the border under control. 400,000 (33,000 per month) encounters per year happened while Trump was president, and many were sent away. Here are Biden's numbers, and virtually none are sent home.
2021 (year ending in Septerber): 144,000/month
2022: 198,000/month
2023: 206,000/month
2024: first 3 months of fiscal 2024 262,000/month
Are you guys really stupid enough to think that Biden and the Democrats can't put a stop to this?
I've yet to hear a single person explain why the proposed legislation doesn't make the border better than it is now. They just give generic statements like "it's a terrible piece of legislation"
and since the new position of Republicans is that no legislation is required they need to explain why they hijacked Ukraine aid unless it was attached to border legislation. Don't hold your breath.
The only problem MAGA is interested in fixing is democratic elections where they get their ass kicked.
Oh...the border patrol union backs the bill....and before you call them partisan, Deep State hacks you should know they endorsed Trump in 2020.
Republicans defy border patrol agents support for bill
Biden doesn't use current law to close the border, but instead encourages unfettered immigration. He won't enforce anything.
Can you cite the existing law he should use?

Short list - Executive orders, no "law" necessary.
