You don't really think that those people are ever going to get that money, do you? It'll all end up in Trump's pockets. That's why he put his name on the accounts (aside from being egotistical).

As I said, anything President Trump does that is positive he gets "lambasted," as seen here in Lying Lewis's post.

Best thing he's done with his presidency.

Except, it's not going to happen at all--at least, not the way it's been described. Maybe he'll track how the parents vote and if they don't go straight MAGA, he'll rescind the accounts, confiscate the money, and send them a bill for the income tax they didn't pay. You might recall, he's been rabidly opposed to helping the people who didn't vote for him in any way.

Everything Trump does is a scam. This won't be an exception. Oh, and by the way, where is that first four billion coming from? Taxpayers' pockets. Enlarging the deficit. I thought MAGA was against the deficit.

I can't say exactly how, but this is certain to be just another Trump Bible-style grift.

I doubt it.     He'll be out of office in two years.    Ironically the stuff he wants to immortalize his tenure is likely to be all torn down after he leaves office.    Every building he puts his name on.....all the gold decorations....that's all toast once he leaves.

this legislation is the most positive thing he'll be remembered for.    You'll be hard pressed to find much else.

The sad fact that they're going to be named "Trump Accounts" is a sickening indicator of what this is really all about. The Turd expects the parents to teach their children that Wise and Noble Dear Leader Trump gave them that money out of the goodness of his heart and that's why we have his portrait hanging in the living room.

Here's the reality. Between Turdiffs ($2000 per family) and high gas prices ($1000 per family), Trump has stolen three grand from all those families he's (supposedly) going to give $1000. So even if you use Tom-math, that doesn't add up.

Also...with Turdflation, what good is that money going to do in 18 years? Even if the accounts are interest-bearing, they won't keep pace with inflation. By the time the accounts reach maturity, their purchasing power will be less than half what it is today.

$1000 is less than 1/4 of the value of canceled SNAP benefits for a family of four.

So, the grifter is giving a tiny bit back. Big whoop.

I see it as a fantastic addition to Social Security.     $1000 put in the S&P 500 for 60 years ends up being over $350,000 when that child retires.    And thats just with the initial deposit.   Part of the appeal of the accounts is that it encourages companies to make additions.   Its already become popular.    THousands of companies have already agreed to make annual deposits into employees who have Trump accounts with their kids.   So in addition to things like 401k match being standard employment benefits there will also be these deposits to Trump accounts.

The income gap in this country has been growing at an alarming rate for decades.   Working class people have largely been left behind while the investor class leaps forward.    This helps close that gap.    Its not a full solution but it helps.

Even if you hate Trump and I do....this is a good thing for our country.

My sister's husband was transferred to Canada for his job (P&G).  Around the late 1970s I think.  To her delight a check for $200 or so (I forget the exact amount) per kid came in the mail every month from the government.  She joked about all moms loving the day those checks came.  Doubtful they were always applied to an investment or education; more often food and other necessities etc.  Her kids are now long grown up and I can't swear this is still the case, but it was back in that day.
