Trump causes sharp rise in farmer suicides and bankruptcies

This article explains the effects of Trump's tariffs and trade wars on America's farmers:

Depending on the data used and the relevant time point, both farmer suicides and bankruptcies have risen 20-25% since Trump took office. Trump's idiotic economic policies have turned what was always a challenging way to make a living into an impossible one for many American farmers.

Note that saying that it's not Trump's fault is a dog that won't hunt. First of all, he takes credit for every single positive development, whether or not he actually had anything to do with it, so if you're going to cheer for him for the stock market going up or the sun rising, you have to boo him for what he's done to American farmers. Second, the problems farmers are having are a direct result of Trump's ignorant trade policies.

It's particularly sad and ironic that these were the people who fired up their pickup trucks, put on their red hats, and drove hundreds of miles to scream at Trump's hate rallies. He sold them a bill of goods--utter bullshit, saying that he would help them--and they lapped it all up. They voted for him--and now, for no good reason at all, he's ass-fucked them.

I'm sure our Trumpers will have some standard bleats in response, but it can't be ignored that these problems are a result of actions that Trump didn't have to take. Trump is an incompetent asshole, so he should just go to Florida, play golf, and stay there, rather than trying to be President, a job that he botches with stunning regularity.

Great post! It is also important to point out these problems are still happening even though Trump has spent twice as much bailing out farmers as the auto industry bailout. I can recall every conservative here at LVA droning on about the auto industry bailout for a year or more. One of their favorite phrases was that big government shouldn't be picking winners and losers. Now, I hear crickets from them on the big government farmer bailout.

Here is what a farmer for Trump looks like.
